Welcome to the With Thanks Bible reading challenge week 3 summary! I’m so glad you are here. If this is your first time, then welcome! Each month I host a monthly Bible reading challenge to be used for your individual quiet time with God. Together our community follows the Bible reading plan and journals.

Each week I post a summary of the previous week’s Scriptures so we can review and retain what we’re learning. This month we’ve been focused on cultivating a grateful heart. So now that you understand the logistics, let’s check out what the reading has meant to us this week. Ready?

Psalm 147:1-7

A reason to sing. When your heart is broken and bleeding, fall on the One who heals hearts

A reason to sing. When your heart is broken and bleeding, fall on the One who heals hearts. He longs to hear your voice, even and especially when you are in distress. His calming hand soothes the aches and relieves the pain. So much to be thankful for in the midst of heartache.

Colossians 4:1-6

It can feel a bit easier to pray on Sunday than Monday. Is that true for you like it is for me? Let’s follow through today and “continue.” Happy Thanksgiving week!

Psalm 75:1-7

I am so thankful for His nearness in this season of life. Jesus, thank you. The words are inadequate to express my gratitude for your presence. I never face the enemy alone.

I am so thankful for His nearness in this season of life. Jesus, thank you. The words are inadequate to express my gratitude for your presence. I never face the enemy alone. Praise You. I never walk the valley of the shadow of death alone. Praise You. Refresh my ability to sense your nearness this hour. Amen. #withthanksjournal #biblereadingplan

Psalm 30:1-12

The pain won’t last forever. The suffering will cease at some point. Joy will come again like the sunrise. Be encouraged. He is with you.

Psalm 116:14-19

The sacrifice of thanksgiving. Today we set aside feelings and step up our attitudes. We lift up thanks in the midst of heartache, brokenness, and fear. For the One who holds eternity has given us the gift of today. Father, thank you. For Your love, for Your grace, and never-ending mercy

The sacrifice of thanksgiving. Today we set aside feelings and step up our attitudes. We lift up thanks in the midst of heartache, brokenness, and fear. For the One who holds eternity has given us the gift of today. Father, thank you. For Your love, for Your grace, and never-ending mercy. Thank you for seeing our humanity and allowing thanksgiving to be a sacrifice we offer at any time. For while the blessings are many, the burdens feel heavy. Yet it is through the offering of our thanks that you fill us with hope, joy, and peace. We bless your name with humbled hearts. Amen.

1 Chronicles 16:27-34

On a day when folks often begin hurrying and scurrying, I’m purposely slowing my heart for a few moments to continue practicing gratefulness. I long for his strength and joy. You too? He’s always available.
