I am so excited to let you in on this little piece of news that I’ve been bursting to share! Beginning next Wednesday, I have a new series planned that I know you are going to love. We are going to mine truths from the women in the Bible listed in this popular post. Each week, the focus will be on one of the women in the Bible: beautiful and brave. We’ll take a peek at her culture, what her daily life might have looked like, her emotional baggage, and MORE! I’m really looking forward to all that we learn together!

9/24- Week 1: Sarah

10/1- Week 2: Deborah

10/8- Week 3: Hannah

10/15- Week 4: Ruth

10/22- Week 5: Mary, sister to Martha and Lazarus

Weeks 6-10 are currently mystery guests. (Don’t you love a good mystery? I do; I’ve read every Nancy Drew book existing.) I want you to help me choose the other 5 women we study. I know you have your favorites, so fire them away in the comments today.

  1. The woman at the well. I feel she has been so misunderstood. I once heard a preacher refer to her as “not what we would call a ‘nice’ woman”. That still irks me… she has a story to tell!

  2. I was going to suggest Esther and Dinah (I believe I have her name correct). Any way, after scrolling through all the other comments, I had no idea how many women are named in the Bible. I, apparently, have been under the mistaken belief that not many of them are named. I obviously need this study. I’m so excited that you are doing it that at this point it doesn’t matter. There are lots of women in the Bible to study. Thank you for the undertaking and the sharing 🙂

  3. Tamar, Rahab, Hannah, Esther, Ruth 🙂 Thanks Rachel.

  4. Jochebed, mother of Moses. And I agree, 10 weeks seems too short for all the amazing women God empowered.

  5. Thammadapalli. Vijayaraj says:

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” – Ecclesiastes 4:12

    – Understanding that two is strong than one is one thing. But, understanding two together united with one God is even stronger! The three cords represent a husband, a wife, and God. These three form a close relationship that is not easily broken. Amen

  6. Rehab!

  7. I am excited about this series. I love the women of the Bible and my all time favorite is Ruth so week 4 will be extra special for me. I think you should add Esther to the list. Have a wonderful day! Prayers are coming your way as you finish up your book to send to the editor.

  8. Have to add Martha to the list. We can all relate to her. And I love Esther! And how about the women at the well? Maybe 10 weeks are not enough.

  9. Esther and Rebekah

  10. Polly Schneider says:

    How about Martha, Mary’s sister.

  11. How about Rahab? I really enjoy reading about her bravery in helping Joshua’s spies.

  12. I love the Samaritan woman at the well 🙂

  13. Esther!
Although this women isn’t particularly a physical women, I think she is worth studying; the Proverbs 31 woman. The woman God really wants us to be.

  14. Stephanie Markos says:

    Esther!

  15. Hi, my favorite is Mary of Bethany, the one who washed Jesus with her tears and poured a years wages in oil over his head and was criticized for it. Jesus gave her a place in history and held her up as an example of how we need to be abandoned to him. I am like her in that she who has been forgiven much loves much. I also have my face in his sandals and beg to surrender all to Him every day.

  16. Mary Lynn says:

    Miriam & mom, Rahab

  17. How is Esther, Queen of the Persians, not in this list?! Or Mary, the Blessed Mother? Or mary Magdelene — now THAT woman would have some story! How about John the Baptist’s mother, Elizabeth — imagine raising that wild beast of a boy! Or Rebecca, wife of Isaac — talk about your nosy busybody mother! Or Rachel, wife of Jacob — being married to her cousin and second wife at that, with her sister as his first wife? Talk about a culture shock!

There are so many AMAZING women in the Bible! <3 <3 <3
