Praying for my husband is something I love to do. I’ve seen God work in our marriage and answer prayers directly over and over again through our fourteen years together. In the spring, my husband knew that he was going to need to make a job change due to anticipated upcoming schedule changes at work. I can’t tell you how much I prayed for him and over him. And I’m so thankful for him. God has answered our prayers and continues to do so.
Today I’m excited to introduce you to my friend, Darlene Schacht, although she hardly needs an introduction!
Darlene Schacht is the well-known Time Warp Wife whose purpose in ministry is to encourage wives to put God first in their lives. She inspires us to love our husbands and children, and to be good homemakers. In doing so, we bring glory to God. God has created each one of us with a purpose, which is first and foremost to glorify Him. When we live as Jesus lived in obedience to the Bible, we bring glory to God, bring peace to our home, and draw closer to our husbands in the process.
Darlene is an Evangelical Christian who has been married to her husband Michael for over twenty-five years. They have four children and two adorable pugs. Their lives are basically surrounded by three things: faith, family, and books.
I had one interview question for Darlene about this book:
The book starts and ends with prayer. Why is that important to you?
“Have you ever heard the saying, “All we can do now is pray?” Unfortunately that’s an attitude that’s common in our society—if everything else fails, let’s turn to God, it’s worth a try.
What we fail to remember time and again is this,
“[God] is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
We serve a God who created the moon and the countless number of stars. We are intimately connected with Him, and He is intimately connected with our lives. He knows the situation (and is at work in our lives) before we breath the first word in prayer. He loves us more than we’ll ever know and He wants the best for our marriage.
There is power in prayer because there is power in the One who loves us.”
Messy Beautiful Love is about cleaning up messes God’s way, exchanging your ideas for His, and being prepared for both the best and the worst that marriage has to offer.
I had the privilege of reading Darlene’s book and it is now available for purchase. Her raw honesty and Biblical marriage advice will keep you turning page after page. Today I’m so excited to be giving away, not one, but two copies of this beautiful resource!!
This book, Messy Beautiful Love: Hope and Redemption for Real-Life Marriages (Thomas Nelson), delivers an incredible testimony of grace that offers hope for today’s marriages and a spark for rekindling love.

7 Ways to Pray for Your Husband for 7 Days
A Prayer of Thanks for My Husband
How I need this book.
My first answer is that I need to remember to pray for my husband every day. He is an amazing provider and I believe he deserves a wife that prays for him daily.
We have been married for almost 36 years and I still am learning about being an encourager for my husband. This book sounds like it will definitely help me in that regard.
“Messy Beautiful Love is about cleaning up messes God’s way, exchanging your ideas for His, and being prepared for both the best and the worst that marriage has to offer.” … THIS is why I would love to win this book… much needed in my life right now! Thank you for the giveaway and chance to win!
After 18 years of marriage, we’re on the verge of a divorce, finding this site & a chance to win this book, can only be one thing… guidance from our Lord. In need of prayers, strength & guidance, this book may be a “marriage saver”!
Thank you for your wonderful site.
I can’t wait to read the new book.
I don’t know if there’s a specific part that interests me. I know that I could use some biblical guidance on the messy parts of marriage, though.
Ooo I’ve only just raked up the courage to read this one on praying for your husband. I don’t have a husband anymore. Mine left for a dif women after 14 years of marriage… But this has inspired me to become a more faithful prayer regardless!!! Keep my lamps full of oil.
Bless you Colleen. God sees you and your boldness!!
I am so looking forward to this study !!!!!!!
This is a book I’ve been looking forward to reading! Happy to hear a little more about it.
Oh, man, do I need this book. Even today, I argued with my hubs instead of praying with him. For him. For us. What a way to start his work day. But, God knows even now, I am still talking about it and the day is half over for him. Praying I am at a better place when he comes home. Great post, by the way. Caught my attention, for sure.
I was drawn in by the question asked about the book beginning and ending with prayer. What a wonderful idea to apply to every day – start & end with prayer for our husbands & children. Love it!
I would love this book, anything and everything to save me family!
I am interested in this book because I need to pray for my husband more. Stress has been high, which is causing a strain, and praying for him hasn’t been as high on my priority list as it should be. Maybe this book could help me refocus and pray for him
As a young wife I would love to read this book! God comes first in our marriage and being a young wife, it isn’t always easy, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
I can’t believe I came across this on pinterest searching for wedding gifts…Gotta love how God leads you to what he wants you to see.
I jump at every chance I can to pray for my husband. There are a few things we don’t see eye to eye on, or have different opinions about, and I’m interested in seeing if this book would help me clear up or understand or point me to scripture to help work these things out.
Messy & real & faith & grace with prayer. These things alone stir my heart. Marriage’s are messy and so in need of Christ in the center. Thank you Darlene for standing strong in Him and for letting Christ minister in and through you.
This definitely interests me as we are going through a rough patch right now. Prayer is what is helping us get through and I believe this book could really help. Thanks Rachel!
Looks like a wonderful read.
I’m a new wife (6 months!) and a fairly new Christian (2 years) and from what I’ve seen in marriages around me… I know what isn’t right… When my husband and I said I do, we promised each other there would always be three of us… God, him and me. I’m learning, and I seek wisdom from couples married much longer than I… Biblical, Godly advice, support and guidance… maybe this book has some of that in there. I know God will place it in the hands of the one who needs it most 🙂 Good luck everyone and may God richly bless you all 🙂
I would love to read this book. I do pray for my husband but want to become better.
Oh boy do I need this book! My focus is often on how I can change my husband when it should really be “how can I pray for my husband? “
Thank you for sharing this great resource! I look forward to adding this author to my reading list. As usual, you have lifted and inspired.

I would love to read this book and hopefully learn how to pray for my husband and love him the way he deserves to be loved.
I have had one failed marriage and I am 27 years old. I now honestly believe that I have met the Love of my life but I know that in order to not have yet another failed marriage God needs to be put first. I would Love to read this book and have other peoples insights on how to keep God first in my marriage.
I think the part about prayer both in the beginning and end of each chapter. I need to read this book.
Love Darlene’s writing and cannot wait to read this book!

a book for all marriages
The book interests me because I think at any stage it would help, newlywed, in the thick, and after many many years.
I agree wholeheartedly!
My husband and I take care of his mother who has advanced dementia plus we have 4 younger kids. Our marriage is the last thing on the list and rarely gets attended to. I did not grow up in a born again Christian home and am always looking for information on what that is. I love Darlene’s website and books and would love this one also.
I would love to add this to my bookshelf and to my list of must reads!
I have enjoyed Darlene’s blog & other books. I often need reminding that I can’t fix or control people or life situations. Surrendering in prayer and obedience which means I put faith in action is not just a crisis reaction but a daily “habit”. Looking forward to reading the book!
I need help praying for my husband. Been married for 23 years, and we just need help.
I would read this book! I need all the encouragement and help I can get!
The book would be wonderful to read . To help me dive into gods word daily and help my family
I’m thankful for the encouragement to invest in our marriage, not only for our own sake, but so that it points others to Christ.
I love Darlene’s blog and her other books! I’m looking forward to gleaning more of her wife wisdom.
Sounds like a wonderful book. I have been to Darlene’s website before and she shares a lot of inspirational information.
I need any book on marriage.
I would be interested in the whole book. Marriage is hard so any help I can get is great.
Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to learn how to clean up messes & to learn to reconnect & pray for my husband.
I would love this book! My first reaction to my husband is rarely to pray for him. I know I need to work on that. This book sounds great!
OH I agree. I have learned over the years that prayer is the FIRST lifeline, not the last resort. It’s hard to train yourself to pray first instead react and then resort to any ol’ measure. But the training is worth it. PS: I haven’t perfected this method yet by any means! 🙂
A book I would enjoy reading, then giving to someone else to read
I am anxious to read the book. Sounds amazing and helpful!
This book I would love to read .
This is a timely message that I really need in my life right now. My husband (34 yrs.) & I need rekindling, communication restored & spiritual renewal. This looks like it would cover it! Thanks.
I have been patiently waiting for this book to hit the shelves. Darlene is a great writer!
Oh, I need to read this book!
This book interests me because I definitely need to find hope for my marriage.
