Have you been there?

The words aren’t coming to your mouth.  They aren’t even formulating in  your mind in cohesive sentences.  Just a swirl of ideas and thoughts and phrases

…and run-ons.

Your brain won’t form words because the depth of your soul is just so anguished.   The possibilities of the circumstances are completely overwhelming. They lie over your head and swarm like an entire hive of bees. Hovering and buzzing.  Threatening to drive you crazy.

Your mind funnels like a tornado, twisting and spinning.  Multiple circumstances are twirling around like a cow, Ford Focus, and kitchen appliances within the walls of said tornado.

None matching, yet all enduring the force of the wind.

You want to ask God why.

You want to beg Him for mercy.

But the words just won’t form.

Enter Romans chapter 8.  A passage of Scripture that Paul wrote in the very midst of crisis.  Multiple verses that sooth the weary soul.

But one in particular addresses this issue of not knowing how to pray.

And it’s a simple solution.

Don’t know what to say? You don’t have to.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.- Rom. 8:26

Just release.

No words necessary.

  1. when i studied Romans and realized the Holy Spirit GROANS for me….. i was blown away. God is so great. He loves us so much. He knew our needs before the creation of the world and KNEW we’d need help expressing ourselves. AWESOME.
