Welcome to the Trusting God Bible Reading Challenge Summary Week 4! I hope you are still reading with us as we continue to see what the Word says about learning to trust God fully. Let’s take a look at this week’s reading!
Luke 12:24-31
In this chapter, Jesus questions human reasoning for why we don’t trust God.
And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?
Hard questions. Jesus didn’t pull any punches.
Proverbs 3:1-8
Just about my favorite verse in the Bible!
Isaiah 50:4-11
What an incredibly strong passage! I love how Isaiah takes a look back on all that God has done in the past in order to help him move into the future. I found it interesting that he, too, asks a good question:
Who among you fears the LORD
and obeys the voice of his servant?
Let him who walks in darkness
and has no light
trust in the name of the LORD
and rely on his God.
I love that word “rely.” I believe it means we can rest and relax when we choose to trust God.
Psalm 91:1-16
Last summer when I was in Africa, I heard a group of orphans quote this passage. Read this passage through the eyes of an orphan….My refuge and my fortress…under his wings you will find refuge…You will not fear the terror of the night…When he calls to me, I will answer him.
Jeremiah 17:5-10
What a beautiful passage that explains WHY we should trust the Lord! “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
whose trust is the LORD…” This is the beginning, but if you missed this day of reading for any reason, be sure to go back and read it!
Which reason stood out the most to you?
Psalm 78:1-11
Ah, the story of the Israelites as they made their pilgrimage and struggled to trust God. As you read the passage, did you remember that a psalm is a song? I wonder if this was a sad, melancholy tune. Maybe it was similar to an old country song that talks about all the mistakes you make and live to regret….
Psalm 78:12-29
The song explains everything the children of Israel failed to remember. If they could only remember all that God had done for them, then perhaps they would know how trustworthy he is!
The verse in this passage that stood out to me was verse 18.
They tested God in their heart by demanding the food they craved.
How often do we make demands of God today? Something to think about.

Before I even get out of bed in the morning, I reach for my Kindle and read the Verse of the Day from YouVersion. Today(April 29) was Rom 15:7 and in the ESV that verse begins with the word Therefore so I had to read the preceding verses and the rest of the chapter to see what it was there-for. How fun to go to my April Bible Reading just now and you had us read the same chapter!!! I love when that happens and I ask God to especially show me why He wanted me to read that twice today.

Jeremiah 17:8 stood out to me as my anxieties sometimes rule my entire existence! It seems that I am constantly having to remind myself to trust in God, day by day, minute by minute. But I then remember that grace actually allows me to have the thought of turning it all over even in the midst of anxieties! That is powerful!
