Welcome to the True Love Bible Reading Challenge week 1 summary! I’m thrilled that you would be a part of the Bible reading challenge and I have enjoyed the first week of reading so much!

Because we had a couple days left in last month’s In His Presence Bible reading after Friday, I added the last couple days of last month’s challenge to the week 4 summary. You’ll find the links at the end of this post.

And here we are on the first Friday of February! Wow, this week flew by for me. I’ve been preparing for the One More Step LIVE Bible Study that begins next Thursday. When the 6 week LIVE teaching is completed, I will be offering an online Bible study for One More Step. Stay tuned for all the details!

And now the True Love Bible reading summary!

Mark 12:28-34

Circumstances were messed up around our house today. I caught myself not feeling the love for others I mentioned this morning. But I managed to circle back to this reminder. #truelove #biblereading#noteworthytruth #bibleartjournaling#biblejournaling

Romans 5:1-8

To think about the kind of love God has for us is beyond our comprehension. He loves us so much that not only did He give His son to die for our sins, but he poured his love right into our very beings by giving us the Holy Spirit to live in us. He doesn't love us at arm's length; He loves us from heart's depth. If you're feeling unloved today, whisper this verse to your mind and let it sink into your soul. God loves you so dearly that he wants to be with you every moment of every day.#truelove #biblereading Romans 5:1-8 NLT

Romans 8:31-39

You've passed through dismal days, walked through dark valleys, and scaled life mountains of dangerous proportions. Maybe you're in the middle of deep struggle right now. I've personally faced divorce, disaster, death and disease. To say it is painful is a complete understatement. But no matter how rough the path, nothing, NOT ONE THING, can separate us from the love of God. When the weight of this world feels more than you can bear, remember the immeasurable love of our Almighty God and precious Savior!! Let his love wrap around your mind, heart, and soul today. #truelove #biblereadingRomans 8:31-39

Matthew 22:34-40

The second commandment is like the first commandment. We read about the first commandment on the first day of our #truelove Study. We know it: Love God. And yet In the words: "Love your neighbor like yourself," Jesus took it up a notch. It's not enough to love our neighbor. We are to care for them as if they are our own flesh and blood. Their needs first. The second commandment is like the first--True love requires supernatural love-- only God can provide it. Let's ask him for it today!#biblereading

I love this reading plan so much! I don’t know if I have a favorite passage, but Romans is one of my favorite books so the Romans 5:1-8 reading was very impactful for me. Thank you so much, Rachel!

  2. Linda Harrington says:

I just need to share one more thing. I love these Monthly Bible Reading Plans and I never just sit down and read the verse. I always dig much deeper. Thank you so much Rachel for allowing God to use you.
We are in the middle of a remodel/add on and today my husband walked out and found one of the gentlemen reading his Bible and praying. When my husband talked to him, he said he reads his Bible and prays over every job every day. WOW. I BLESS GOD! My heart is so fill with love for God right now.
In reading through this week verses, I am reminded just how much He is with me through everything, even when I feel like I’m alone.
I have been praying so earnestly for my little sister to come to Jesus, and Romas 5:6,I’m reminded again of His love for us, “Christ died for the ungodly” I’m trusting Jesus to show her His Light, and that she will call out to Him, even if it is with her last breath.

    1. Elizabeth Conrad says:

      Linda,

I’ve just prayed for your little sister to come to Christ. Big hugs!

      Elizabeth

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  3. Sharon McConnell says:

Rachel. Whoa. Wait a minute. In your statement about “true love” requires supernatural love. Let’s ask Him for it. Can you help me understand why you believe that we need to ask Him for something that He has already given (Romans 5.5)? If, His love already given, is not functioning in me (and there have been lots of times when it hasn’t), the problem is me, not God and His love that has been placed inside of me. The problem is my flesh showing up as aggravated, irritated, grumpy, angry, envious, wanting my way, being manipulative, “I don’t feel like it.” You get the picture. If I think irritated thoughts, I’ll be irritated. If I think angry or aggravated thoughts, I’ll be angry or aggravated. Etc., etc., etc.. So now. What do I do. The simple answer is, admit them to Jesus and ask Him to change me. To deal with my flesh. As many times as is necessary. If His love isn’t operating in and through me, the problem isn’t Him. The problem isn’t my kids, my friends, my spouse, the cashier at the store isn’t problem. Fill in the blank. The problem is me.

    1. Thanks so much for your thoughts, Sharon! I think we have to ask him to help us recognize his love inside of us. Yes, it is already there. You are absolutely right about that. But when we aren’t acting in love, we need him to show us the way. That was my line of thinking in the moment! Great word from you; yep, I get in the way of myself a lot!
