Welcome to the Light Bible reading plan and journal challenge! I’m so glad you are here! This community of folks who long to read their Bibles and grow in their relationship with Christ is such a blessing to me. You are here because you want to read your Bible daily and find it helpful to have a guide. So here we are together; since I’m in the same boat! Let’s check out the December challenge, ready?

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.  In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5

Years ago, when our family was young and small, my husband and I were strolling through Sea World. Imagine plush greenery and beautiful flowers, clear skies and bright sunlight. The weather was so gorgeous that my head was practically in the clouds, only there were no clouds. That’s just how wonderful this day was.

Until right after we entered a tunnel. We had turned a corner and suddenly, all ears of our party heard a “clunk.” This lovely clunk was my knee against a bench, which I somehow totally missed seeing! The sudden change from bright sunlight to the near-dark tunnel caused me not to see what was right in front of me.

You’ve been there, haven’t you? Oh, maybe a bench didn’t jump out and trip you, but you glanced back on a situation and thought: “How did I miss that?” It’s because of darkness. It’s so easy to be blinded by the enemy of this world; he’s strategic. How can we defeat the darkness? Through filling our lives with the light of God’s Word! Light is living in God’s heavenly truth. While sometimes the way ahead seems dark and dreary, God’s Word always brings light into the darkness. When we can’t see ahead, his light shines to show us the way.

How can we concentrate on the beautiful light of Scripture to help us make our way through the dark? By saturating our hearts and minds with his word!  Let’s do this.

THE LIGHT BIBLE READING PLAN AND JOURNAL CHALLENGE

Welcome to the The Light Bible reading challenge! If you’ve never joined a Bible reading challenge here before, each day we follow the plan and read the passage. You can share what you are learning on social media or just keep it between you and God. My goal through the reading is to draw closer to Jesus, and I want that for you too!

For this month, we will use the hashtags #thelightjournal and #biblereadingplan. Almost every day, I post on Instagram or Facebook about what I’m learning through the passages and sometimes I post the Bible journaling pages I work on throughout the study.

On Fridays, I post a summary of what I learned through the week here on the blog and invite you to share what God is teaching you in the comments.

NEW!! JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP

For the first time in our Bible reading challenge history, we are introducing a Facebook group available for those who would like to enjoy more conversation about the daily reading. My awesome ministry partner, Mindy, will be leading this group and you are going to love her so much! We have worked together this entire year to build and create this format and honed it to be what God would have.

Our number one goal is to help you get into God’s word and know it for yourself as the Spirit leads you.

ABOUT THE BIBLE READING PLAN AND JOURNAL

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a whole year since God began working in my heart to step the monthly Bible Reading Challenge up another notch. Personally the Lord has convinced me that soaking in his word each day is the best soul treatment I could possibly encounter. So while our community has completed Bible reading challenges for several years, I knew God was asking me to provide a stronger tool than the simple Bible reading plan I offer each month.

As a result, I created a Bible reading plan and journal combination. This resource is designed to provide a topical theme for 31 days of Bible reading passages. Topical Bible reading plans are fantastic for folks seeking to study a certain subject in the Bible or people who really want to  be accountable to be in the Word for themselves on a daily basis. They are also great for new Christians who aren’t sure where or how to get started reading their Bible.

IMPORTANT NOTE

I truly long to provide practical, spiritual resources because I know that is a work God has called me to do. Throughout this year, I have made changes to the format. A couple months back, I expanded the journal from one page a day to two pages a day, and yet I believe it is still something the average person can complete within a reasonable span of time on a personal level.

If you’re looking for an in-depth Bible study, these slim Bible study guides may not be the right fit for you. (Check out this FREE video Bible study for more depth!)

I designed these particular Bible reading plans and journals to be doable on a consistent, daily basis.
