Oh, come on.  You know we all have them.

The fat pants.

Definition:

The pants you wear when 1. carrying more weight than normal.  2. wanting to eat more than you should. 3. bloating.

The list could probably go on.

I usually wear the fat pants when I go to my favorite restaurant.  Hey, if I’m going to eat good food, I want to get my money’s worth!

Yesterday a friend and I were discussing  the fat pants when the thought occurred to me:

God likes fat pants.

What?

Hear me out:

God wants us to wear our fat pants when we come to Him.

Psalm 23:5 & 6

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil.  My cup runs over.   Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

He desires to fill us to overflowing.  He wants us to smile like my baby does when her little tummy is completely full.   He basks in providing the abundant life for us.

We are the ones who stifle our relationship with Him through the habit of coming without the expectation of spiritual fulfillment.   We fail to go to His Word for counsel and pick up the phone instead. We go to church without having our hearts prepared to receive the message.

We put on our skinny jeans and leave no room for Him in our schedules.

Have you ever thought about putting your fat pants on for God?
