Praying the Promises

I’ve given myself fully to the Lord and I am always whispering that I’m ready to travel through the storm. But as the waves grow higher, I’m sometimes enveloped with anxiety and fear. Do you know that feeling? How we say we’re trusting God, but our eyes reveal the terror in our souls?

And our Father whispers His promises to our hearts.

Do you really think that I would let you be destroyed? Do you really think that after sending my one and only son to die on a cross for you…after you chose to trust me for salvation and a home in heaven…do you think after all these thousands of years… do you think I would let something happen to you now that I can’t bring you through? I’m here! I won’t let anything happen that isn’t for your good. There’s no need to be afraid. I am with you.

Why pray God’s promises back to Him?

Maybe you’re saying, “Where does it say that in the Bible?”

God’s Word is full of His promises to us. According to BibleInfo.com, it has been estimated that there are 3573 promises in the Bible and other sources have cited as many as 7000! That is a TON of assurance from our Father in heaven. We truly must know God’s Word in order to receive his promises. And not only are we the benefactors of his promises, but the power of praying God’s promises to him is also unable to be measured.

Praying God’s promises is a beautiful expression of prayer. When we remind God of His Word, He is pleased for two reasons. 1. He is pleased that we know His Word. 2. He is pleased to receive the glory in fulfilling His Word.

We can’t pray God’s promises unless we remember them, right? The Praying the Promises Bible reading plan and journal identify 31 promises of God that we can pray in confidence!

INTRODUCTION to the Challenge

Each month I host a monthly Bible reading plan and journal challenge to help our community enjoy reading God’s Word together and encourage our hearts to be faithful to Him.  Together, we have completed over 40 Bible reading plans, including both annual and monthly reading challenges. I’ve developed all sorts of strategies to help us read God’s word faithfully and there is nothing like this monthly system we are working through together.

Many readers have requested that I list our monthly resource at the beginning of this announcement post because you already know you want it and don’t need the details. So here you are! This month’s journal is available for purchase as a digital download.

I scroll through most of the emails I get but when I see yours come through I stop in my tracks because through it all your Faith stands strong and your Anchor Holds in Jesus…Thank you for your encouragement and Prayers coming your way…Believing God has a Greater plan for your husband a job in the near future!

  3. Rachel, thank you for all you do. I adore your openness & contagious hope in the Lord.
Praying God’s gonna reveal His perfect plan for your husband as he seek Him.
My husband was not working for 11 & a half years. He got laid off initially and decided to wait for the perfect time to be employed again. Years passed and along the road, he was looking for jobs here and there, it was frustrating that most of his applications led to interviews , then multiple rejections.

It was only 1 wk ago when he started a new job with the AZ state. It was far better than the rest of the jobs he applied for in the past. Our daughters are bigger and somehow ready for independence; they grew up with him at home. They’ve grown to be the best kids because of a constant hands on guidance of their dad. God had the perfect plan all along… in His economy, nothing is wasted. The kids also saw how we cried out to the Lord together & how He answered our fervent prayers. Hallelujah!

I believe the your husband will land into the right job as God’s set & planned for him. You’re right. His true to His promises & we should pray it back to Him!!!! Glory to His name!!!! – Odette

  4. Praying for your family.
