Hey there! We're on the One More Step Bible Reading Summary Week 4! How has your reading gone this week? It's Friday; let's check out the summary for the week! #onemorestep

Hey there! We’re on the One More Step Bible Reading Summary Week 4! How has your reading gone this week? Holidays can have a tendency to throw off our rhythms and routines. We have four days including today to finish out this plan! I’m going to go ahead and post the new reading plan today or tomorrow so that you can be prepared to begin on Dec. 1st. But it’s Friday and our usual check-in day, so let’s glance back at the Bible reading plan from this week! What did you learn

Periscope

Yesterday while I was baking with my children, it hit me. I was supposed to do a Periscope last night (Tuesday night!) Oops!! I am so sorry. I forgot that we were varying from our usual Thursday 9 pm weekly Periscope due to Thanksgiving. So here we are;we’ll hit Periscope back on the usual time on December 3rd!

Psalm 27:1-7

The Lord is my stronghold. He sets me high on a rock! All other ground is sinking sand! Psalm 27:1-7 was the#onemorestep #biblereading yesterday and today we continue with verses 8-14. Have a super Saturday! #biblejournaling#journalingbible

Psalm 27:8-14

It's hot and you're thirsty. It seems that life has been a desert and this Thanksgiving week you're struggling to give thanks. "The gifts we unwrap in the desert are often the ones we appreciate the most." - One More Step. I know what it is like to search for those gifts, but start with life and breath and keep searching. Waiting on God is always more than worth the wait. Take courage. He is with you and his presence is the biggest gift we can ask for. #onemorestep

Psalm 24:1-10

Last night pastor said: "God's blessings always mandate more than belief. They require obedience." And today as I read Psalm 24:1-10, I couldn't help but focus on verses 3-5. As we count our blessings this thanksgiving week, may we trust and obey as he leads us. #onemorestep

Psalm 31:1-6

God is our strong fortress. These six verses are a cry from the psalmist’s heart. It is in Christ that we take refuge from this world. I’ve had to remind myself of that over and over in recent weeks. Maybe you too?

For You are my rock and my fortress; You lead and guide me because of Your name. vs. 3

His leading allows us to take one more step.

Psalm 31:7-14

Some days we walk the faith journey as though it's a tightrope. Over cautious and unconfident, we fail to remember that our God makes the narrow places wide. Live spaciously today! #onemorestep

Psalm 31:15-24

It's easy to place our hope in poor resting places. When we place our hope in people, we're disappointed. Hope in things? That's just a distraction. If you've ever placed your hope in yourself then you know that can turn out devastating. But when we place our hope in Christ? We are delivered! Be strong and courageous, all you who place your hope in the Lord. Chapter 2- #onemorestep

Psalm 140:1-7

I started Bible journaling about this passage last night as I took a few moments of reflection after the kids were in bed. David wrote Psalm 140 and he pleas for help from the Lord. His enemies are too big for him. My enemies are too big for me too. I can’t do life alone without Christ daily. Whether facing disasters, disease, depression or death, cling to our Father today. It’s the only way to take one more step.

You may have noticed some of my Bible journaling pages don’t correspond directly to the passage. It’s because the book of Psalms is filling up and I don’t always have space on the page I need to use. Time to get another journaling Bible, right?

Let’s finish up this plan strong over the next few days, shall we? Have a fantastic Friday!

Rachel

  1. A sister once testified in my house fellowship that her husband told her that he noticed she was less angry since she started attending fellowship. that’s the word of God working. . It has been a hectic week in Nigeria (survival of the fittest) . Fuel scarcity, power outrage. hot weather irritated husband and children.. How did I keep my cool? this week’s reading
In you O Lord I put my trust, let me not be put to shame.
You have been my help, do not leave nor forsake me.
Make your face shine upon your servant.

    Many blessings Rachel.

    1. Oh Ufuoma. How I love to read your insight from the week!! Jesus, give Ufuoma rest from the heat and hardship. I praise you for your word and work in her life. Bless her and surround her with your peace. Hugs and prayers across the many miles.

  2. I didn’t take the time to write in my journal this week, so I can’t even remember which verses ‘stuck out’ to me each day! But I still enjoyed each days reading. This week God has really been convicting me to give up trying to control everything!
I have been feeling bad about nagging at my son to do his chores, but feeling that if I don’t, then they won’t get done! But God gave me the courage to stop asking, and just see what happens. And, you know what? That morning, my boy did ALL his chores, and all I had to do was praise him, and send thanks up to God for showing me the error in my ways.

I was put in a stressful situation, and by putting my trust in God (which took a bit of wrangling!) He showed me the way out of it, and made it all ok again.

Than another stressful situation came up, but this time, I wasn’t full of stress, instead I was full of calm and strength, because I had been reading God’s Word, and I knew that He is my Rock and Fortress, no matter what He will take care of me.

Rachel, once again I thank you for giving me the opportunity to do this bible study with you, and I look forward to next months study!

    1. I’m excited too! Thank you for your weekly comments- they fill my heart with joy. 🙂
