Mr. Sun

I hate to admit it.

I despise weakness.

But the truth is: the weather affects me.

Friday was a dreary, gray, rainy day.  And my first thoughts this morning: Again?

This stinks.

As I started helping my 2 yr. old Tarah get dressed though, she flopped down on the carpet and smiled enormously at me.  And then out of nowhere, she began to sing:

“Oh, Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun. Please shine down on me.  Oh, Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, high behind the tree…..

And she was completely, totally into it…

with hand motions.

And a very bright disposition.

Her joy came from in her heart and had nothing to do with the weather.

Either that or her precious toddler heart was in complete defiance against the clouds and rain. 😉 Take your pick.

Where is your joy coming from today?

The joy of the Lord is my strength. Neh. 8:10

The ransomed of the LORD will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away. Isaiah 51:11

He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. Job 8:21

So go ahead. Watch the Barney video. You know you want to. 🙂

  1. I love it, Rachel. Well, all except the Barney video. (Barney gives me nightmares and hives.)

“It is no use to grumble and complain; It’s just as cheap and easy to rejoice; When God sorts out the weather and sends rain – Why, rain’s my choice.”
    James Whitcomb Riley

I’m going to try and remember this this winter when I’m tempted to hate snow.

    Love, Stacey
