Faith like an eclair…

I love chocolate. I love doughnuts. Therefore, I love eclairs. Truly, madly, deeply.  What makes an eclair so luscious?  The center.  That glorious middle that fills my mouth with sweetness.

What does that have to do with this week’s Women of Faith “Talk Back?”

The article, Who Is Your Faith Center? by Marilyn Melberg, reminds Christians to rely on Jesus and none other.   And then the Women of Faith question of the week is: “Do you have a ‘faith person’?  Are you someone else’s?”   Well, all that reminded me of eclairs.  I know, I’m warped, but just see if you get it…

I love Jesus. I love His Word.  Therefore, I love His Promises.  Truly, madly, deeply.  When do I enjoy my personal relationship with Him the most?  When it is the center of my life.  Then, just like that eclair, my life is filled with the sweetness of His Spirit.  It spills out and can’t help but be enjoyed to the fullest.   My faith might develop into the honor of being a “faith person” for someone.   And while the goal is for them to have their own complete faith in Him, if I’m used by Him to help direct the transaction, then glory be!   I couldn’t help but to be reminded that:

When the people you are closest to in this world are taken away from you, through whatever form, death, disease, divorce… then your relationship with Jesus is all you have.

The words to that old hymn are still true today:

My faith has found a resting place,
Not in device or creed;
I trust the ever living One,
His wounds for me shall plead.

I need no other argument,
I need no other plea,
It is enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me.

Got faith? Get a bottle of milk and go grab an eclair as a reminder!

    Hi Rachel. Your blog here reminds me of Jeremiah 15:16 (ESV) which says, “Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and a delight of my heart, for I am called by your name , O Lord, God of hosts.” God’s word can be like an eclair-full of rich, satisfying pleasure. And, it non-fattening!

    Blessings
