Welcome to the June 2019 Bible reading plan and journal challenge! If this is your first time here, then I’m so glad to have you! And if you’ve been here before, glad to have you too!
I can hardly believe that we’ve arrived at the end of the school year and we are headed into the 6th month of 2019! This month I’ve started the return to blogging and more time on social media and it has been wonderful to reconnect with so many of you! Thank you for your emails and continued encouragement. God has graciously been sustaining me in sorrow and ushering in joy in the midst of pain.
Throughout May, we have worked on the Magnificent Power Bible reading challenge to help us remember that God is bigger than anything we are facing. The Scripture reminders have encouraged my heart each and every day and I know it has been the same for each of you participating. For the month of June, the Lord has impressed on my heart to read the Biblical reminders to combat worry. June’s Bible reading challenge is Soul Secure: Winning over Worry.
INTRODUCTION
Each month I host a monthly Bible reading plan and journal challenge to help our community enjoy reading God’s Word together and encourage our hearts to be faithful to Him. Together, we have completed over 35 Bible reading plans, including both annual and monthly reading challenges. I’ve developed all sorts of strategies to help us read God’s word faithfully and there is nothing like this monthly system we are working through together.
ORDER YOUR JOURNAL
any readers have requested that I list the journal at the beginning of this monthly announcement post because you already know you want it and don’t need the details. So here you are! This month’s journal is Soul Secure: Winning over Worry Bible Reading Plan
JUNE 2019 BIBLE READING CHALLENGE
Are you willing to admit that you worry? Maybe you wouldn’t call it worry initially but you experience one doubting thought that leads to another and that one leads to another. Pretty soon, you’ve worked your way from a single thought to a hill of fretting. You do your best to squelch it, but then a fear here, another fear there, and the hill of fretting piles up into a mountain of madness.
Worry has wrestled you down, paralyzing your mind and affecting your body, soul, and spirit. It’s crazy how easily it happens, especially when as Christians, we know what Jesus said about worry in Matthew 6:27:
And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
For some of us, worry is triggered by something we see or hear. Others feel it gradually seep over our spirits through a progression of circumstances. Doubt, fear, and panic are companions of worry and make for bad soul company. So what do we do? How can we prevent worry from taking control? By trusting God to be in control.
When things seems out of control, God is always in control. – One More Step
Winning over worry begins with letting go of all we latch on to. When we release our grasp on what we cannot control, we’re then free to hold the hand of God. Let’s check out his promises that will lead us to a soul secure, full of assurance and free from worry! Ready?
