Welcome to the August 2019 Purposeful Pause Bible reading plan and journal challenge! If this is your first time here, then I’m so glad to have you!

I’ve received so many sweet responses from you regarding the July Bible reading challenge, Never Alone, and also regarding my precious nephew who made an early surprise arrival at 26 weeks. Thank you for your continued prayers for him; he is holding steady but has a long journey ahead. I’ll continue updates on social media, but if you would pray for baby Greyson, Ashley, and Ian, I would appreciate it so much.

INTRODUCTION

Each month I host a monthly Bible reading plan and journal challenge to help our community enjoy reading God’s Word together and encourage our hearts to be faithful to Him.  Together, we have completed over 35 Bible reading plans, including both annual and monthly reading challenges. I’ve developed all sorts of strategies to help us read God’s word faithfully and there is nothing like this monthly system we are working through together.

ORDER YOUR JOURNAL

Many readers have requested that I list the journal at the beginning of this monthly announcement post because you already know you want it and don’t need the details. So here you are! This month’s journal is Purposeful Pause: Waiting on God’s Perfect Timing.

AUGUST 2019 BIBLE READING CHALLENGE

Just the name “waiting room” gives me a headache. Does it for you? Do you ever look at the drive thru line and decide not to stop because you don’t want to wait? Or put your three items back at the grocery store because you just can’t wait for the checkout line? (PS: Self-checkout is a beautiful friend of mine.)

Waiting has never been “my skill.” Even though I have grown more patient with people and circumstances over the years, I find that there is one arena of waiting that still holds a struggle for me. It’s waiting on God.

Whether it’s waiting on God for needs to be met or answers to prayer, if I’m being totally honest, I’m often inpatient. Most recently my inability to wait has shown up in the areas of direction, guidance, and opportunities. Anyone else know what I’m talking about?

So this month, I’m slowing down even more. I want to look for God’s purpose in the pause. I want to lean in to listen more and request less. Who’s with me?

Perfect timing Rachel. My husband just lost his job yesterday. I see it as a God thing, but still scary nonetheless. I know God will provide!
