Years ago when our family was young and small, my husband and I were strolling through Sea World when we entered a tunnel. Now imagine plush greenery and beautiful flowers, clear skies and bright sunlight. The weather was so gorgeous that my head was practically in the clouds, only there were no clouds. That’s just how wonderful this day was.

Until right after we entered a tunnel. We had turned a corner and suddenly, all ears of our party heard a “clunk.” This lovely clunk was my knee against a bench, which I somehow totally missed seeing! The sudden change from bright sunlight to the somewhat dark tunnel caused me not to see what was right in front of me.

Have you ever been there? That situation on which you glance back and think “How did I miss that?”

He is my light.

And when I miss the truth as it stands in front of me? Often it is because I’ve failed to soak up the light of God’s Word. I’ve missed time with my God who sheds light on every dark subject, no matter its shape or size.

Maybe this week you’ve turned a corner, entered a dark place or even bumped directly into something far worse than a bench. Perhaps you’ve encountered a sudden change from light to darkness and it has caused you to miss something that is now obvious.

Now is a great time to get back on track; his light is always available.

There is no darkness so great that he cannot dispel it. His light shines brightly, never dimming; it is we who close our eyes tightly. We close them and fumble blindly because it seems the light is too bright for us. In truth, we just need to open our eyes and adjust.

What is light? Living in God’s heavenly truth.

light

When the light surrounds us, it’s becomes impossible not to see truth. We not only see the truth; we live in truth.

When we saturate ourselves in the light of God’s Word,  visual reminders encourage us to remember the true light of the world.

The light brings clarity and peace.  Because he is our peace.

  5. I discovered your website today! Yesterday I fell into a very dark place. Panic swamped me and sleep evaded me. My faith is weak and we have no church or Christian fellowship here. I wanted to get back on track but haven’t been praying or reading the Word for years. My search for a prayer journal ‘ how to’ led me to your site and this post has been a great encouragement to me just now. Tomorrow I go ,not in my own strength, but with renewed faith to the authorities to get this problem sorted. Whatever happens, I am trusting more in God today than I was yesterday. Thank you! :O)

    1. Prayers going up for you, Anne. So glad the Lord led you here; may his light direct your path brightly.
