What a joy it has been to see your comments as you share your hearts about all you are learning about the Light of the world! This is the first month we have offered a Facebook group to support the monthly Bible reading challenge and my ministry partner, Minday, and I are simply loving it, because we love your huge hearts for God’s word. Let’s check out the Light Bible reading challenge summary week 1, ready?
John 1:1-9
Jesus came to save us and the darkness could not overcome him. He is not overwhelmed at the state of this world, unlike many of us. No, the grave did not hold him! Death had no power of my Jesus! The Light of the World contains more the enough power to illuminate that dark hole you’re facing. Whether disease or divorce or even death, Jesus holds the victory! He did not abandon you when he fought the sin war on the cross and he will not leave you now. It’s a great day to be alive and bask in the Light! Happy Friday! #thelightjournal #biblereadingplan Day 1
Each month we walk through the passages in 4 simple steps. 1. Pray: Prayer is simply having a conversation with God. 2. Read the Bible passage one time and then read it again slowly if you have time. 3. Answer the daily question. 4. Complete the journaling section to learn how to digest and apply what you learned. Today was the first day of our new plan; it’s not too late to join in!
Psalm 36:1-9
My God continually provides purpose and direction through light and life. The fact that he woke you up this morning provides meaning for your life, even if you are in the darkest season you’ve ever walked. I was praying this morning and confessed to the Lord that even in my prayers, I find myself not knowing what to pray. The Spirit reminded me: “Jesus gave you an example.” So I began to pray the Lord’s prayer. When I arrived at “Thy kingdom come,” I was in total agreement with the words. “Yes, Lord Jesus, come quickly. Resolve these issues. I’m ready for your kingdom.” But the next phrase arrested me. “Thy will be done.” I wrestle daily with the tension of our Taylor’s terminal diagnosis. It’s a hard thing to say that I believe Taylor’s healing will come in Heaven. But oh the glorious promise that the fountain of life is in the Lord! And so I’m holding to his gift of light and life for today, the asking of my daily bread, my portion of strength, grace, and mercy for each moment. Thank you, Jesus, for light in the darkness!! #praisehimanyway#thelightjournal #biblereadingplan Day 2
Job 33:23-28
You have been sought after, fought for, and bought back by the greatest love of your life. Pitch black darkness could not overcome his relentless love for you. And now the choice is yours. Will you choose to focus on the Light of the world and live like it? Or sit in despair and defeat? Have a super Sunday soaking in God’s goodness and grace!! #preachingtomyownheart #thelightjournal#biblereadingplan
John 12:30-36
Jesus chose an everyday visible experience to explain a lifetime intangible decision. I can’t hold light in my hand; yet Jesus holds my hand and walks with me every step of life’s journey. In today’s #thelightjournal #biblereadingplan , Jesus was prompting his listeners to choose to see him while he stood in front of them. I think we miss seeing Jesus often because the darkness is so deep. This Monday, let’s not miss him! Anybody with me? #hellomornings
John 12:44-50
It’s #simplytuesday and I’m so very thankful for Jesus, the Light of the world! We don’t have to allow the darkness to penetrate our souls and render us helpless! As Christians, we have the Eternal Light, Jesus, living in us. Let your light shine bright! #thelightjournal #biblereadingplan#hellomornings #goodmorninggirls
Psalm 119:105-112
What joy to have such brilliant illumination in dark times! The end of today’s #thelightjournal #biblereadingplanspoke to me: “I will incline my heart.” In other words, I will purposely set my heart to focus on the light of the Word. Have a wonderful Wednesday! #hellomornings
Psalm 56:1-13
Psalm 56 is one of my favorites! If the shadows of life seem to be overtaking you, join our community as we read through #thelightjournal #biblereadingplan ! Have a thriving Thursday! Day 7 #biblereading#hellomornings
Psalm 97:1-12
Looking for a way to shine light on your path? Need help with a decision and asking God for guidance, for clear vision? Obey in the seemingly little things. Do the things you know God’s Word says to do and your vision will become more and more clear. Try it! Have a fabulous Friday! #thelightjournal#biblereadingplan
That wraps up the first week! Let’s keep going for week 2; check out the resources below for more direction, especially if this is your first time here. We’re glad to have you!

I can truely feel this reading challenge this month. I have walked through some dark times these past few years wondering if I would ever get through? I had to realize that God’s will be done and I can’t change anything myself. I have to give everything to God and let his light help me, while I wait for his will to be done. This is such a hard thing to do but his word makes promise that I keep in my heart daily. I never stop praying God hears my cries.
Yes, he does!! Bless you, Barbara. I’m so thrilled to see you embracing God’s word in your life. 🙂 xo
