He has made everything beautiful in its time. Ecclesiastes 3:11
Here we are- staring at the Everything Beautiful Bible Reading Plan & Journal Challenge! What’s this monthly Bible reading plan all about? Savoring God’s seasonal elegance. In the Purposeful Pause Bible reading plan, the Scripture passages are focused on waiting on God. How to wait, why we wait, and God’s love through the wait. Everything Beautiful is about focusing the eyes of our hearts on the beauty of each season of life.
The 21st book of the Old Testament, Ecclesiastes, has always intrigued me. Solomon, known as the wisest who ever lived, wrote this sermon in his older years. His reflections on life and its meaning provide both practical and inspiring tips for every day. Specifically, Ecclesiastes chapter 3 has captured the attention of many readers and scholars alike. I believe that is because it unfolds the mysteries of the one commodity we cannot gain more of- time.
God has made everything beautiful. There is no question about that. But what I love so much about the verse above is that phrase “in its time.” Folks, there are ugly times in life. In fact, one of mine comes every morning when I attempt to wake up, with messy hair and half-open eyes. The interesting part of discovering beauty in life is that we have to be aware of the season. Beauty doesn’t look the same to everyone at all times, right?
This month’s Bible reading challenge is to discover and focus on beauty in God’s Word and in our lives. Whether indoors or out, let’s find beauty “in its time” right where we are. You ready to join me for the Everything Beautiful Bible reading challenge?
EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL BIBLE READING CHALLENGE
Welcome to the Everything Beautiful Bible reading challenge! If you’ve never joined a Bible reading challenge here before, each day we follow the plan and read the passage. You can share what you are learning on social media or just keep it between you and God. My goal through the reading is to draw closer to Jesus, and I want that for you too!
For this month, we will use the hashtags #everythingbeautiful and #biblereadingplan. Almost every day, I post on Instagram or Facebook about what I’m learning through the passages and sometimes I post the Bible journaling pages I work on throughout the study.
On Fridays, I post a summary of what I learned through the week here on the blog and invite you to share what God is teaching you in the comments.
ABOUT THE BIBLE READING PLAN AND JOURNAL
Last November, God began working in my heart to step the monthly Bible Reading Challenge up another notch. Personally the Lord has convinced me that soaking in his word each day is the best soul treatment I could possibly encounter. So while our community has completed Bible reading challenges for several years, I knew God was asking me to provide a stronger tool than the simple Bible reading plan I offer each month.
As a result, I created a Bible reading plan and journal combination. This resource is designed to provide a topical theme for 31 days of Bible reading passages. Topical Bible reading plans are fantastic for folks seeking to study a certain subject in the Bible. They are also great for new Christians who aren’t sure where or how to get started reading their Bible on a regular basis. This is what one of our readers wrote about the Purposeful Pause: Waiting on God’s Perfect Timing Bible reading plan we worked through in July:
I read Rachel’s blog and she is always encouraging, so I decided to jump in and try one of her reading plans and journals. This one has been great. It’s just the right amount of Bible teaching and listening to yourself and what God wants to tell you. Waiting for things to happen, or not, is something most of us now don’t like to do, but God does have his timing. This study is making me sit back and be aware of what is happening and perhaps why God is making me wait. If you are thinking about giving a Bible study a try, I would highly recommend this.
IMPORTANT NOTE
I truly long to provide practical, spiritual resources because I know that is a work God has called me to do. This month’s journal has been expanded from one page a day to two pages a day, and yet I believe it is still something the average person can complete within a reasonable span of time on a personal level.
If you’re looking for an in-depth Bible study, these slim Bible study guides may not be the right fit for you. (Check out this FREE video Bible study for more depth!) I designed these particular Bible reading plans and journals to be doable on a consistent, daily basis.
I mean, what would happen if you enjoyed a beautiful buffet, but that was the only time you ate all week? You’d be hungry, right?
