And another month has passed! Wow- I can hardly believe it. The Pure Joy Bible reading challenge has been the most challenging plan for me personally. Even yesterday, on the last day of the monthly challenge, I discovered that my credit card number had been stolen and used three times. But joy is not a temporary feeling; we know this for sure by now! Joy is a daily decision to embrace what is offered to us. And that’s just the beginning! Pure Joy is so much more.
Let’s take a look at this week’s summary, shall we?
Psalm 97:1-12
Light and joy go hand in hand. I love that thought and am clinging to it today for so many reasons.
Ecclesiastes 2:22-26
Joy is a gift! Have you unwrapped yours today?#purejoy#biblereading
Isaiah 29:13-19
I love the word “fresh” in this verse. Because so many times, we allow our outlook to be just the opposite- stale. May your joy be fresher than the bread you eat today! #purejoy #biblereading
Isaiah 35:1-10
Your God will come and save you. He makes the lame whole. Gives sight to the blind. And returns the voices of those who have been silenced. Disease has stolen my sweet Taylor’s voice, but I can hardly wait for the day my God comes and restores her words and melodies. What a joy-filled day to anticipate!! If your voice has been stolen figuratively, because you’ve lost your joy, the One who saves you offers healing. You have been redeemed and you are ransomed. While sorrow temporarily rears its ugly head, the joy you have is everlasting!! #purejoy #biblereading#preachingtomyself
Psalm 119:105-112
Just now as I was driving, tears began to stream. The Lord brought a memory to my mind. It was a way he had worked in my life a couple years ago. The people I had met then, he brought to my memory for a purpose today. Then I read this verse. His testimonies bring joy! “Make a memorial where God meets you miraculously.”- #onemorestep His word and his work bring joy!! I hope you are looking for it today. #purejoy #biblereading
Ecclesiastes 8:12-17
The heading for this passage is “Man cannot know God’s ways.” The wisest man ever to live gives us one life recommendation above all-joy. Everything else will fade and pass away, but joy? It does not desecrate, will not disintegrate, it cannot dissipate! #purejoy is living with The Holy Spirit within in our bodies, Christ in our hearts, and God on the throne. We may not comprehend God’s ways, but we can commend his joy! #biblereading
Psalm 126:1-6
This month we’ve been focused on #purejoy for the daily #biblereading. And while it’s been struggle on some days to live joyfully, to do joy because joy lives in us, we can always look back on what God has done. In total amazement. What has God done in your life that puts a song in your heart? Psalm 126 seems the perfect way to end this month’s challenge.
Today, July 1st, is the first day of the new challenge! Hope you’ll join in.
By his grace,
Rachel

Pure Joy Bible Reading Challenge Week 1 Summary
I just want to say thanks to you for the help you have been to me. I have just gone thru divorce after 48 years of marriage and found it hard to continue on and to read God’s love letter to my. My Bible ready was hit and miss. I started your monthly challenge earlier this year and by completing them, I have been able to get back into the Word and my fellowship with God is sweet again. thank you. I also read your book One More Step when I felt I couldn’t go on, and have found it very helpful. God bless you as you continue to encourage others in their daily walk with God. Have a blessed day basking in His love for you.
Bless you, Lilleath. I read your comment right after reading a criticizing email from another reader. I surely can’t please everyone as a human, but I’m so thrilled when I obey and God works in spite of my shortcomings. 🙂 Stick with Him and you’ll go places! 🙂
