A Prayer For When I Feel Dissatisfied

Have you ever had difficulty interpreting your own emotions? I sure have! Sometimes my heart is stirred that something needs to change and yet, I’m not sure exactly what. Since I visited the Billy Graham library a few weeks ago, my soul has been stirred and I’m trying to figure out what the Holy Spirit is prompting. There has been no quick answer and each day I’m begging God to show me. Give me rest in your timing and show me the steps I need to take.

When I have trouble understanding my own emotions, the best thing I know to do is pray. God knows me better than I know myself.

God promises to provide clarity in place of our confusion.

Paul told Timothy:

Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything. 2 Timothy 2:7

Today I’m sharing a portion of my prayer for the last few weeks. May the Lord use it in your life to provide the words you need to take your feelings to him.

A Prayer for When I Feel Dissatisfied

Dear Father,

It’s a new day
And my heart is stirred
To praise you once again.
You created me with emotions
And I’m thankful.
But today I’m not sure of my feelings.
Right now I feel dissatisfied
And I need your wisdom to understand why.
Is this an indication of a call
To be fulfilled right where I am?
Or is this the beginning of something new-
A holy quiver to pursue another direction?
Would you provide the people and circumstances
To guide my steps on your path?
For with all my heart, I want to learn
No matter where I am,
True contentment can only come from you.
Amen

…for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. Phil. 4:11
