This week is week 5 in the Hope for Hurting Hearts series; click here for one-stop shopping for all the posts in this series. While the series was originally announced as 5 weeks, next Monday I have an awesome surprise for you! You won’t want to miss it, so stay tuned! But this week my heart’s desire is to point you to the Source of Hope- God and His Word.

The very best way I’ve found to renew hope when hope seems gone is to focus on what God’s Word says.

When I place my hope in things, I get distracted.
When I place my hope in people, I feel disappointed.
When I place my hope in my own knowledge or strength, I am devastated.

But when I place my hope in Christ, I experience deliverance.

As the old hymn says:

“On Christ the solid rock I stand; all other ground is sinking sand.”

May you find hope in God’s Word today!

7 Bible Verses Giving Hope

Rom. 15:4: “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”

Lam. 3:24: “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”

Psalm 119:114: “You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.”

Rom. 5:5: “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

Titus 2:13: “waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,”

Heb. 6:19: “We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,”

Psalm 31:24: “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.”

I would love it if you have a verse that brings you hope that you could leave in the comments below!

  1. My favorite verse is:

The Lord your God in your midst,
    The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”
    Zephaniah 3:17

This always gives me hope because it reminds me that God loves me and is my Father.

    Blessings~

  3. Oh Rachel, My middle given name is Hope, so you can imagine the love affair I have with “hope” verses! In fact, my life verse is Romans 15:13 —
May the God of HOPE fill you with all joy and peace as you trust Him so you may abound with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Sweet hope-filled blessing to you today!
    Susan

    1. Love it. Our youngest has the middle name Grace- so I get ya. 🙂 Interesting that so many of these verses that have hope in them are full of the Holy Spirit too!! Hadn’t thought about that until today. Something to mull over the rest of the afternoon now. 😉 Got to go vacuum the basement. 🙂

  4. Lindsey Hlavinka says:

As a woman, and mom……longing to be all God created me to be…….wanting to love people the way He loves……respond in ways that honor Him……who is still very much HUMAN……but walking with, and growing with the Lord……..HOPE in Christ has saved me over and over again!! There are days and moments where I flat blow it. I used to really get bummed when I would fail….and would be really set back, until I realized that Jesus was not only the hope that saved me, but that His grace allows me to get up and keep going when I fall!!! People will fail you, and you will fail……but God NEVER FAILS!!! Hope is translated as “a CONFIDENT expectation of good”…..so no matter what valley I may be walking through, I can confidently trust that God will lead me through it….and that victory is eminent as I walk with Him!!! It may not be easy, but God’s word says it….and God does not lie!!! “God will work ALL THINGS for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes!!” = )

    1. oh Amen Sister. You are full of His Hope!! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and spreading your joy!

  6. Thank you for this, Rachel. God confirmed in me, through this, something He’s been whispering to me lately. I actually laughed out loud b/c the post I linked up today I wrote over a week ago, but didn’t schedule to actually post until today. Ha!

  7. One of my life verses: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

  8. What you say here is so true the only place to find hope is in the word of God. There are so many verses that offer hope but here are 3 of my favourites Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
In times of waiting Heb 6:15 “And so after waiting patiently, Abraham recieved what was promised.”
Meditating on Ps 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.”

    1. Oh I LOVE the verses you mention here, Helen. Amen and amen. Thanks for stopping by!
