Yesterday was a long day for the Woj tribe and in the past three days, my Taylor girl has experienced four seizures after having none for more than three months.

Some days make you wish that Mulligans applied in life. You know- a do-over would just be… so great.

We don’t get a do-over of yesterday.

But we do get a new today.

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. Lam. 3:22-24

So whether you said something you wish you hadn’t…

Or were generally impatient, though you tried not to show it…

If you opened your mouth and roadkill crawled out of it (beautiful word picture, huh?)…

Maybe you simply glance at yesterday and whisper to yourself:

I didn’t ask God about that…

Then TODAY is for you.

My sweet friend, Amy, at Full Her Life, presented an incredible reminder tonight:

When you open your mouth to complain,

stop yourself

and find a reason

instead to be grateful.

Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be good.-

Valorie Burton

Indeed life is good.  Very far from perfect. But very good.

When my perfectionistic self holds regrets or wishes for a stronger outcome, better work, or a more excellent standard when there’s none to be had…then I need to remember

because life isn’t perfect,

Jesus is.

jesus is perfect

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17

  1. Your posts are always so “spot on” – exactly what I need to hear at the time! Absolutely love the image of roadkill crawling out of my mouth because I find when I am around certain people that is what happens. Thank goodness Jesus is perfect and is willing to accept us as we are! Thank you for the link up today! Hope your day with all your kiddos and especially Taylor has been a blessing!

  2. Prayers for Taylor and your whole family. You are so right, life isn’t perfect but it is very good. It’s always good to be reminded. Thank you and blessings.

  3. Goodness am I glad God put your blog in my life! Every time I need something this is the place I find it. These words touched my heart today and woke me up! Thank you! And prayers for your Taylor and family. Rachel, your are such a blessing…thank you!

  4. Beautiful post! I love the verse that comes just before what you shared from Lamentations…..”YET I still dare to hope when I remember this….” (verse 21). It is in the remembering that we dare to hope. And I love that! May we remember that He is faithful to us. May we remember His mercies never cease. May we remember that His mercies are new every single morning. May we dare to hope today!
    Praying for Taylor!

  5. Thank u Lord that Your Word says U are our refuge & strong tower. U are our fortress & place of security & safety. Help us to live in that place of confidence & peace. Amen. (proverbs18v10).

  6. I will say some extra prayers for your sweet Taylor tonight and the days to come.

  7. Rachel-
Praying for Taylor, you and the family! I had a brother with seizures so I know what it is like to experience a family member with an illness. Something I admired about him though during the time he had his seizures was his ability to want to enjoy life and live and really try to do as much as he could regardless of his obstacle and I always remember that about him! I feel good knowing that we were there for him while he was sick! He turned to god and prayer and was a real inspiration- and although I questioned god on why my brother had to pass away- I do know that god’s presence since then has always been so great! So thank you as well for sharing your story- and making us think about those times in life that aren’t perfect but we still have to- live the new today! Blessings to you and your family!

Praying for Taylor and you all. Sending a hug.

  9. Incredibly encouraging post, Rachel! So sorry for sweet Taylor’s seizures. Will continue to pray.

  10. Sorry to hear about Taylor and saying a prayer for her and your family. Do-overs would be nice but I’m sure that we wouldn’t be the people we are without the experiences we have had. Though I have asked my husband and children for do-overs, from time to time 🙂

  11. Rachel, special prayers for Taylor tonight! and the rest of the family as well! God bless!
