bible verses for when I feel lonely

Not too long ago, one of our sweet readers was going through a very difficult time. When she wrote to me, I felt the loneliness dripping from her words and I wished that I could be there for her. Instead, I wrote a “Prayer for when I feel lonely” on her behalf. Today I was wondering how she is doing and I wanted to share this list of Bible verses for when I feel lonely.

And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:10

For my father and my mother have forsaken me,but the LORD will take me in. Psalm 27:10

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

I cry to you, O LORD; I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”  Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low! Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me! Bring me out of prison, that I may give thanks to your name! The righteous will surround me, for you will deal bountifully with me. Psalm 142:5-7

And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20b

For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. Psalm 62:2

O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Psalm 139:1&2

Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: “I am the LORD, who made all things,
who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself, Isaiah 44:24

God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. Psalm 68:6a NLT

Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. Psalm 73:23

He is with you.

He will never leave you.

You may be lonely, but you are never alone.

Rest with Him today.

Rachel

  1. Thank you so much for that article about being lonely. It was me that wrote to you a few weeks ago. I am feeling better now. I don’t know why sometimes I get so DOWN. It is hard for me to encourage myself. Your kind words really do help so much.
I can also relate to your daughter. It is hard to see dreams die. I have never been very good at making my dreams come true. I am married to a wonderful man that I know God has led into my life. We need to be kinder to each other but we love each other. I KNOW that.
Please know that I thank you and your words mean a lot to me. I copy the articles sometimes and take them home to read again and again. Please know that you really are making a BIG difference in someone’s life.

    1. Bless you, Mae! God loves you so much. I’m just thrilled that he gives me the privilege of using words for your sake. Thank you for your kind encouragement.

  2. As humans, we’re made by the Almighty God to relate to others. That’s the main reason we need people who can be around, who can be there for us, lastly, we need people that we can share things that we’re going through. Keep in mind, as important our human relationship may be, we have an eternal void within us that can only be filled by God. That’s the reason why, we may be lonely, but if we’re willing to rely and trust God, He’ll sustains us in such a fashion that goes way beyond the satisfaction our relationship with our fellow human being can bring into our lives.

  3. thank you ma for this great vers it is really encouraging. God bless
