Welcome to the With Thanks Bible reading challenge summary week 1! I’m so glad you are here and what a blessing this reading challenge has been over the last week! For me personally, I’ve been prompted to be more descriptive in my thanks to the Lord and I hope it’s the same for you. Each week I enjoy reviewing the daily readings because I know that God’s Word tells us to meditate on the Scripture. When I re-read what I’ve already read, my heart is refreshed anew. So are you ready to check out this week’s summary?
1 Chronicles 16:1-8
Give thanks and make known his deeds among the people. What has God done in your life that someone should know about today? It’s Day 1 of the #withthanksjournaland #biblereadingplan ! Start a gratitude movement in your heart and you’ll gain newfound joy and peace, I promise. Have a wonderful Wednesday! #withthanks#biblereading
I despise going to the dentist. I know, I’m working on being grateful in all things, right? #withthanksjournal About a month ago when my tooth broke and I HAD to go to dentist, I met the kindest dental assistant. She made such an impression on me that when I returned a week later, I took her a copy of #onemorestepbook . Just because the Lord whispered to my heart to do it. And if there is one thing I try to do above all else, it’s listen to his voice. Today when I returned to the dentist (again?! ? I know.), the dental assistant popped in to say hi. She said thank you for the book and that she really needed it. “You already finished it?” I asked. Unbeknownst to me, she had suffered a loss much bigger a few days before my broken tooth. “I don’t know how it happened that you brought that book at the perfect time,” she said. I replied: “God.” And she smiled. She hugged me before she left. And so today I’m thankful for dental work, as much as I’d rather have a baby than go to the dentist. I’m thankful for a sovereign God who is so much bigger than a broken tooth or a miscarriage. The One who divinely orchestrates our days and moments. I’m so very thankful that he will use anyone to share his story. He is such a good, good Father. #withthanks#biblereadingplan #praisehimanywayZoom in to check out my #thankful3 !
Psalm 7:10-17
I will. I choose to give thanks because God is good even when things are not so good. Because he makes just decisions according to his righteousness. Because he will never deceive me and never forsake me. I can choose to give thanks in all things because God has not changed and will not change; his ability to be righteous does not hinge on whims. He will always do what is best for me. He will always do what is best for you! Have a thankful Thursday! #withthanksjournal #withthanks#biblereadingplan #biblereading
Philippians 4:1-7
Oh there is so much the Apostle Paul packed into one verse!! “About anything.” What is your anything? That thing that keeps you up at night. That makes you worry randomly throughout the day. Yes, that anything. Don’t be anxious about it, but instead, give thanks to God for it. What could you begin thanking him for tonight? #withthanksjournal#biblereadingplan #biblereading#withthanks
Psalm 9:1-9
The counting of blessings is important, but it’s not a seasonal attitude as we are prone to think. That’s why the recounting is mentioned! To recount and to recall is reflective heart work, a remembering of times God showed his love to us and we knew 100% it was him. Think about how wonderful he is on this super Saturday! #withthanksjournal #withthanks#biblereadingplan #biblereading#gratitudejournal
Psalm 145:1-10
Y’all I’ve been called a piece of work and today this piece of His work is reminding you that He is so good! Our good, good God loves to hear our praise and thanks as it reflects the heart work (and often hard work!) he is doing in our lives. I know you’ve got something to give thanks for today! What’s your #thankfulthree ? (Scroll to the second pic.) or I’d love to see even one in the comments! Happy Sunday!
Psalm 105:1-7
“Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!” We may not comprehend God’s temporary tolerance of evil on this Monday morning. But I’m coming to realize he can take any ashes and make them something beautiful. We can always thank God that he is a redeeming God who longs for the best in our lives and that’s where my thanks is beginning today. Psalm 95:1-6
If you read today’s #biblereadingplan for the #withthanksjournal , then you know that the psalmist isn’t praising God for the things he has done in his life, but he is praising God for WHO HE IS. You see, when circumstances and situations are not what we’d like, then God is still God. He is still the Redeemer. He is still our good, good Father. He still loves us with an everlasting love and chases after us with longing. He is still the Almighty One, the Alpha and Omega, the Immanuel. He will never leave us, never forsake us, and never belittle us. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Yes, he is our God to whom we can give thanks! #withthanks #biblereading#gratitudejournal
Psalm 136:1-9
In an ever-changing world, our God’s never-ending love is something to be thankful for. He loves you and as long as you are breathing, life has meaning. #onemorestepbook I’m so grateful for God’s endless love. Have a terrific Tuesday in wonder of it! #biblereadingplan #biblereading#withthanks #withthanksjournal#gratitudejournal
Ephesians 5:15-21
Because there is always something to be thankful for! Find your #thankfulthree on this #thankfulthursday . Will it be a physical provision, a special person or a personal blessing? #withthanksjournal #biblereadingplan#withthanks #biblereading#gratitudejournal
Psalm 107:1-9
When a hard hour or day or week comes along, my thanks begins with salvation. I have a home in Heaven because Jesus shed his precious blood for me. As the wise old preacher once said, “If my only prayer was “thanks,” it would be enough.” The depth of God’s love in sending his own Son to die on the cross cannot be fully comprehended. But oh how He loves us! So very thankful for the gift of salvation this morning. My Redeemer lives! #withthanksjournal #biblereadingplan#withthanks #biblereading#gratitudejournal #goodmorninggirls#hellomornings
Well, Friends, that sums up the week of our daily Bible reading plan! I pray that the Lord is working in your life through these plans as much as he is mine. I was so thrilled to read this beautiful testimony on Instagram from Paula regarding our current With Thanks Bible reading plan & journal:
I’m so loving this reading plan and journal! While I’ve done your. reading plans with my girlfriends, this is the first time I’ve used the journal. Prayer-life changing! As a seminary student, I’m in the Bible daily, but this short journaling excercise is focusing and refining my prayer life tremendously! Thank you for your obedience to God in creating this tool. Praying there’s one coming up for December?! ❤️
Thanks so much for sharing your experience, Paula! Happy Friday, Friends. May the mercy and grace of Jesus envelop you fully this weekend.
By his grace,
Rachel
