From as far back as I can remember until age 10, my mom read a Bible story to the youngest four of her clan of nine children every night. We had two sets of books, but our favorite was the set of five. Each book had five stories in it. Some nights when my head hits the pillow now, years later, I can recall some of the phrases from those stories. One of the stories I remember almost word for word.
I’m guessing some of you are the same. Maybe it was a Sunday School teacher or your grandma or maybe you had one big book of Bible stories instead of a set like my family had. Regardless, you still smile when you read that story or the eyes of your children or grandchildren light up in pleasure over it.
My awesome friends at Tommy Nelson gave our family the privilege of previewing a HUGE book of Bible stories, aptly named, Children’s Favorite Bible stories. Each story is titled and contains the Scripture verses for where the story can be found in the Bible. The stories are color-coded: Beige for Old Testament and Blue for New Testament.
One of the really neat features of this book is the “Let’s Pray” section at the end of each story. A short verse and prayer provides the opportunity to reflect on the story. There is also a “Going Deeper” section which contains a Read It! and a Do It! item. This section is a fantastic way to get everyone in the family involved. Though designed for ages 6-12, my crew all the way down to the just-under 2 yr old listened and enjoyed. 🙂
Our family has really appreciated this book and we plan to read it all the way through. I’d love for one of you to have that same opportunity! So follow the Rafflecopter to enter the giveaway because I want to know:

Daniel and the lions den
Mine was always Noah’s Ark. 🙂
The poor woman who gave all she had.
I just started reading children’s bible stories with my 4 and 2 year old. We sit down as a family and read a story. After, we all draw a picture of what happened in the story. My favorite so far is Noah’s Ark, because of the picture my son drew with the rainbow and God’s promise to us.
The story of Mary, Joseph and the birth of Jesus. I also LOVE the prophesies prior to the miraculous night!
I like David and Goliath. He didn’t need armor or to be the same size to have a fair fight. All he needed was God on his side. God can use anyone if they are willing.
My favorite Bible story is the story of Christmas. A story God’s love for us.
I never really understood the depth of Jesus’ pain that he suffered so that I would have eternal salvation! I don’t have to WORK for it, it is there if I believe and accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I didn’t know this growing up and it has changed my life in such a profound way and I am working on sharing this great Love story with my boys. We love the true meaning of Easter and Christmas in our home! But we have many other favorite stories too!
I love the story of the Prodigal Son because it shows God’s mercy. And I love the story of Joseph too because it reminds us God has a plan for us although we may not see it at the time.
My favorite Bible story, even as an adult, is the story of Jonah! This story shows us that even when we think the end is near (being swallowed by a big fish) that He is there to save us (Jonah’s life was saved by being swallowed by that fish-he would have drowned)! He is always there!!
I can’t chose. But One of the bigger likes is the hole Book of Roth
Noah’s Ark
I have a few favorites one of them is the story of Joseph it really shows how God works everything together for good!!!
My favorite Bible story is Esther. I love the hope it brings. I am here for such a time as this.
My favorite has always been Noah and the Ark 🙂
I did not grow up with bible stories read to my siblings and me. I know the value and have read bible stories to my kids for years. We are on round two with children 2yo, 3yo, then a jump to 18 yo and 22 yo. As a believer I love the story of Gideon and how he was called “O Mighty Warrior” and he could not believe God thought this about him and he became transformed and accomplished what is only possible with the Lord.
My son loves hearing about daniel in the lions den.
Jesus and the fishermen
