Welcome to the January 2020 Restore Me: From Hurting to Healing Bible reading challenge! If this is your first time here, then I’m so glad to have you!

INTRODUCTION

Each month I host a monthly Bible reading plan and journal challenge to help our community enjoy reading God’s Word together and encourage our hearts to be faithful to Him.  Together, we have completed over 40 Bible reading plans, including both annual and monthly reading challenges. I’ve developed all sorts of strategies to help us read God’s word faithfully and there is nothing like this monthly system we are working through together.

Many readers have requested that I list our monthly resource at the beginning of this announcement post because you already know you want it and don’t need the details. This month I have not prepared a journaling resource. My recommendation to you is that you purchase a blank journal or this month, I’m using this journal, “My Bible Study Journal.”

Restore Me: From Hurting to Healing Bible Reading Plan Challenge

Losing a child is unlike any other loss I’ve experienced. I’ve walked through divorce. I lost my mama to cancer. Heartache has not been a stranger to me. I could not make it in this world without my heavenly Father and his Word to strengthen and sustain me.

The last year has been an unusual one. Trying to understand how to live after Taylor’s graduation to heaven resulted in a learning curve that I never anticipated.

I think the pain pierced so deeply that almost a year later, it feels as though I am still walking around with a gaping hole in my heart. I’ve been reminded time and time again that while emotional pain runs deep, it can never run deeper than God’s love.

When life circumstances are challenging and loss has occurred, how do we start the healing process? How can such hurt and heartache ever result in anything more than agony?

The God who saves us also supports us. The God who created us also comforts us. And the God who hears us heals us.

The Restore Me Bible reading plan is focused on moving from hurting to healing. Each passage is a reminder that God hears us in our pain. He delivers and restores. His promises are true and when we don’t understand His plan or the pain feels too deep for alleviation, we can experience His soothing peace and energizing power through walking with Him.

  1. I am just joining this group today. I have been getting Rachels emails for a while, but have not felt led to join. I am going into my 4th year of Scripture Writing Challenges. But this year I feel God is telling me that it is weaning time. Time to get into the meat of the Word. Also Rachel, I am so sorry for your loss. In just the last 7 months our family and church family has seen 8 people go on to meet Jesus in heaven, 2 of which were generals in His army. Me personally, my son’s wife of just 10 years also went to meet Jesus, she was only 36yrs old. And her oldest child had to celebrate her 16th Bday, 20 days later without her Mom. I am also going into a fresh new season with God which involved moving out of the state where I was born, and all my family, and going to a new state with just my heart sister as the only person that I know. I thank God every day for connecting our hearts 8yrs ago.

  2. Dear Rachel, I am so very sorry for your loss. I came across your website years ago… and even though I haven’t been an active visitor, you have been on my mind and in my heart. It’s so interesting, we have never connected but I have thought about you and prayed for you and always wished the best for you over the years. I thought about you again today, came to your site, and was delighted to see that you are still actively encouraging others.

I am really really really sorry for your loss. I pray that God will continue to minister to you, strengthen you, encourage you, and lift you up. I pray that God will continue to use everything we go through for His glory and for the encouragement of others. Keep up the good work, God will see you through sister.

    Much Love in Christ, Bomi.

Rachel, I am so very sorry for your loss! My heart and prayers go out to you and your family. Actually, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 have seen significant losses in them for my family and me. I cannot believe I am looking forward to another year of closure. I am ready to do this challenge with you. I am also going to look at purchasing the journal. Thank you for all that you do. God bless you and keep you in His perfect peace. ❤️
