What a beautiful month of Bible reading on the topic of waiting on God! Today’s conclusion is the Purposeful Pause Week 4 Bible reading summary. If this is your first time here, each month, I host a monthly Bible reading challenge and each week we take a look back at the previous week of Bible verses.  I pray that this month’s plan and journal has been the Lord’s perfect timing for you. Let’s review the key verses from the week, ready?

Isaiah 64:1-8

On the first day of the work week, when it can seem like rushing ahead is the only way not to fall behind and pushing forward seems like the surest motion, maybe you’re sitting in God’s waiting room. And the words jumbling around in your mind can be shortened to:”A little help here?” As I preach to my own heart this morning, let’s simply remember that we serve a God who acts for those who wait for him.

Psalm 69:1-6

If the psalmist is describing your personal situation right now, there is help, hope, and healing in the wait. God, thank you for being with us. Open our eyes to reveal the gifts in the desert, the beauty in the waiting. #purposefulpausejournal #biblereadingplan

Psalm 69:7-13

At an acceptable time, O Lord. Jesus, let us daily die to our own desires. May the waiting be a sweet surrender that honors You because we trust You and your perfect timing. Amen. #purposefulpausejournal#biblereadingplan

Psalm 69:29-36

God, today I rest in you. Though pain is near and affliction is present, I set my heart to praise your name. Thank you for your love and salvation. Thank you for hearing my needs and providing before I request. Thank you for sustaining and restoring. Amen. #purposefulpausejournal#biblereadingplan

Ecclesiastes 3:1-11

His time. It’s tempting to rush ahead of God and try to fulfill my own agenda. It’s tempting to wish for things to happen sooner rather than later. It’s impossible as humans to see things as God sees them. But when I wait for his perfect timing, savoring his purposeful pauses in my life, then I remember that he is in control of eternity

His time. It’s tempting to rush ahead of God and try to fulfill my own agenda. It’s tempting to wish for things to happen sooner rather than later. It’s impossible as humans to see things as God sees them. But when I wait for his perfect timing, savoring his purposeful pauses in my life, then I remember that he is in control of eternity. That he loves me too much to want anything less than the best for me. That his timing is always perfectly perfect. And when I learn to draw as close to him as I possibly can, I’ve discovered the purpose in the pause. Jesus, continue to woo my heart while I wait for your perfect, eternal will to be fulfilled. Amen.
