Purplicious Courage

The sea of purple boxes and bags  that filled my dining room has diminished significantly since yesterday has passed.  But our hearts are full and overflowing because our family had the privilege of hosting the Annual Ohio MPS Family Gathering for the 10th time.  Purple has always been Taylor’s favorite color and so this year, the theme was “Purplicious Courage.”

When your child has the medical diagnosis of MPS (mucopolysacchridoses), then every day of life is a celebration.  But yesterday was special, because my MPS family came together as a group.

Representing 16 families who have one or more children with MPS, this picture is so near and dear to my heart. Imperfections and all.

The families came together for a time of food, fellowship and fun.  Each family had the opportunity to have a caricature drawn of their choice of 1 to 3 people.  A professional photographer took a photo of each individual family, as well as a group picture of everyone. (The above is NOT it.)  And a massage therapist volunteered an hour of her time to give 3-5 minute neck and shoulder massages to any family member or affected child.

So thankful for the opportunity to serve each other and share the load together.

“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galations 6:2

Rachel’s Country Version of that verse?

Do whatever you can to help each other with your life circumstances because this is how Jesus loved.  No checklist of rights and wrongs.  No judgments.  Just loving on each other and helping each other by listening, caring and sharing.

Thank you all for coming!  Here is the video from yesterday in case you missed it!
