Friday is here and I can hardly believe it! God has graciously blessed my heart with the Pure Joy Bible reading plan this week and I’ve enjoyed journaling through the book for this month’s Bible reading challenge. I pray the results have been just as tangible in your life as they have been in mine! Check out the summary for this week.
Psalm 65:1-13
You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy. Psalm 65:8 “What will I do today to live joyfully because I know joy lives in me?” #purejoy #biblereadingplan#biblereading #journaling
Habakkuk 3:12-19
Yet. You see, there is always something before the “yet.” A bad set of circumstances. An unexpected change. A diagnosis. A dysfunction. A disgrace. A disappointment. No matter your “yet” there is reason to rejoice. Your God has saved you! #purejoy #biblereading#biblereadingplan
John 15:5-11
Oh that I would live knowing his joy lives in me! Living a life of loving others brings joy. Living a life of loving God brings joy overflowing. Happy Monday! #purejoy#biblereadingplan #biblereading Day 16
Abiding. Not once a week or every few days. Abiding requires intentional focus. #preachingtomyself#purejoy #journaling #biblereadingplan
Galatians 5:22-26
The Holy Spirit lives inside of you, filling you with joy! Now there’s a great reminder to begin Tuesday! #purejoy#biblereading #biblereading #journaling Day 17
Psalm 92:1-8
David knew the importance of praise. I adore his reflection on God’s work in his life and it makes me want to do the same thing! Lord, this morning I praise you for life and breath. I praise you for saving me. Thank you, Jesus, for loving me and always doing what is best for me. I’m thankful for your mercy, your grace and your love. Thank you for bringing joy into my life when I look back on your work! May my heart continue this day in the same manner, singing for joy at the work of your hands. #purejoy #biblereadingplan#biblereading #journaling
So very glad that the One who holds the sea holds my ❤️!! #purejoy#journaling
Philippians 2:1-11
Paul wrote to the Philippians church in our #purejoy#biblereadingplan passage today. Essentially he said that there is enough strife in the world without Christians adding to it. We should have unified hearts with one another in Christ. Does it mean we will always see eye to eye on every issue? Absolutely not. But we should not support sin and we should completely show love. Agree to disagree and treat one another with respect. The #purejoy #journaling question for each day this month has been: What will I do today to live joyfully because I know joy lives in me? I plan to make sure folks know how much I love them- enough to disagree respectfully. How about you?
Interesting that I received my 2nd hate mail for the week in this morning’s email just after I studied this phrase. Today’s #purejoy#biblereadingplan passage of Philippians 2:1-11 reminds us that unity with other Christians brings joy! And the opposite is a thievery, designed by Satan himself to keep us busy arguing with one another to prevent the work of Christ from being accomplished. Your brother, sister, father, mother In Christ is not the enemy. Let’s love and respect so our joy is overflowing! #journaling As my pastor said Sunday: You need the skin of a rhinoceros and the heart of a dove. ❤️
1 Thessalonians 1:4-10
In today’s #purejoy#biblereadingplan , we are reading 1 Thess. 1:4-10. Paul encouraged the church at Thessalonica to keep on keeping on. He looks at their lives and is thrilled by the way they have accepted the gospel of Christ and are growing in their faith. He can see the spiritual fruit of the Holy Spirit living inside of them and their joy brings joy to him. The lesson for me today is remembering that The Spirit and the Word bring joy to my heart. When feeling the pain of this world and being tempted to let it suck the joy right out of me, if I turn to God’s Word, my joy will remain through the power of the Holy Spirit. Whew. That’ll preach on a rainy Friday morning! Happy #journaling today!
That wraps up this week! I have some wonderful news about February’s Bible reading challenge; so stay tuned!
By his grace,
Rachel
