Have you ever prayed and prayed about a situation, but nothing seems to change? You can’t see any evidence that God is working, yet you’re supposed to keep believing He cares about your circumstances.
When it feels like God has gone silent and your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling, it’s tempting to wonder if there’s even any point in continuing to pray.
If you’ve ever struggled to keep praying when you can’t see how God is working, this episode will show you how His promises become your anchor in uncertain times. Rachel shares how God’s Word gives us something solid to hold onto when circumstances don’t change and our situation looks impossible.
In this episode, you’ll discover:
- Why emotions aren’t reliable indicators of spiritual reality
- How to shift from praying based on what you can see to praying based on what God has promised
- Three ways God’s promises anchor us when we can’t see His hand moving
- A personal story of trusting God’s promises when facing a potentially devastating situation at a major conference
Rachel also introduces her new “Praying the Promises of God: A 52-Week Guided Prayer Journal” and explains how a free sampler can help you anchor your prayers to God’s unchanging truth when you can’t see Him working.

Dear Rachel,
I am struggling right now, like never before, but your podcasts have helped enormously. please don’t remove those about God’s promises that we don’t feel yet, they’re all we have to hold on to, the deep waters won’t look last forever, etc. I listen to them over and over. My husband has MND and is deteriorating rapidly, and this has seriously tested my faith to the point I even wonder what to pray and if there’s any point in praying for his healing. Your own testimony has encouraged me and if I can get through the Amazon process I will try your prayer journal. that’s all new to me… the doubts you mentioned in the above podcasts had my name all over them, from throughout my life. I had only in the last few years really started to realise God’s promises are for me too, but now my husband’s diagnosis has shaken that comfort and at times I feel so lost. He is not really a believer so I pray for his salvation, and this at least I know is God’s will. I have stood beside a river in furious flow and that is metaphorically what we are facing now. the idea of having to cross that roaring water is terrifying, but your Isaiah verse is comforting. Thank you for sharing your experiences with your listeners, those terrible times were not wasted because you can now truly help others. Like me…
Oh, Sonya, I am so very sorry to read of your husband’s diagnosis. Life can be so hard. Thank you for sharing your heart and your pain. May the Lord hold you close and I pray that you feel his mercy and grace surrounding you.
