Welcome!
Welcome to the December 2018 Bible reading plan and journal challenge! If this is your first time here, then I’m so glad to have you! Each month I host a monthly Bible reading plan and journal challenge to help our community enjoy reading God’s Word together and encourage our hearts to be faithful to Him. Together, we have completed over 25 Bible reading challenges, including annual reading challenges and monthly reading challenges. I’ve developed all sorts of strategies to help us continue to stay in God’s word faithfully and there is nothing like this monthly system we are doing together.
ORDER YOUR JOURNAL
Many readers have requested that I list the journal at the beginning of this post because you already know you want it and don’t need the details. So here you are! This month’s journal is The Light: Living in God’s Heavenly Truth.
DECEMBER BIBLE READING FOCUS
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5
Years ago, when our family was young and small, my husband and I were strolling through Sea World. Imagine plush greenery and beautiful flowers, clear skies and bright sunlight. The weather was so gorgeous that my head was practically in the clouds, only there were no clouds. That’s just how wonderful this day was.
Until right after we entered a tunnel. We had turned a corner and suddenly, all ears of our party heard a “clunk.” This lovely clunk was my knee against a bench, which I somehow totally missed seeing! The sudden change from bright sunlight to the near-dark tunnel caused me not to see what was right in front of me.
You’ve been there, haven’t you? Oh, maybe a bench didn’t jump out and trip you, but you glanced back on a situation and thought: “How did I miss that?” It’s because of darkness. It’s so easy to be blinded by the enemy of this world; he’s strategic.
How can we defeat the darkness? Through filling our lives with the light of God’s Word! Light is living in God’s heavenly truth. While sometimes the way ahead seems dark and dreary, God’s Word always brings light into the darkness. When we can’t see ahead, his light shines to show us the way.
Let the Light of the World illuminate your soul anew as we take the month of December to focus on the reason for the season!
This Bible reading plan and journal will guide you to a stronger walk with Jesus! I am fully convinced of that. If you need accountability and would enjoy seeing the history of your growing relationship with the Lord, this is a fantastic tool for you!
I truly long to provide practical, spiritual resources; I know that is a work God has called me to do. I expanded the journal from one page a day to two pages a day, and yet I believe it is still something the average person can complete within a reasonable span of time on a personal level.
