Welcome to the Confident Trust Bible reading summary weeks 1 and 2! If you missed my announcement, my husband and I flew south for a week to enjoy some wonderful time together and I’m still catching up! While we missed the kids and I was curious as to how everyone was doing in the Bible reading challenge this month so far, Matt and I truly soaked up the sunshine and had such a great trip together for our 18th wedding anniversary. So here we are; already almost halfway through this month’s Bible reading plan! This month’s topic of believing God’s plan is best and fully, confidently trusting Him has been perfect for this season of my life. Perhaps you too?
Confident Trust Bible Reading summary weeks 1 and 2
If this is your first time visiting, welcome! Each month I host a Bible reading challenge and each week (normally!) we take a look back at the previous week of reading to help us stay focused and retain what we’ve been learning. Let’s take a look back at the last two weeks of learning how to trust God more. Ready?
Psalm 20:1-9
Things of this world will let you down. Your car breaks down. Your house needs repairs. People will disappoint you and desert you. But God? He never leaves you. He is always near and he can always, always be trusted. He loves you that much!! Rest in Him tonight! #confidenttrustjournal#biblereadingplan
Psalm 62:1-12
Power and love are two of the most sought-after possessions of mankind. Yet today’s #confidenttrustjournal#biblereadingplan reminds us that both belong to the Lord. When we stop trusting in our abilities to obtain or desires to secure and start trusting in the Lord, then we can rest in his power and love!! Have a wonderful Wednesday believing God’s plan for you will exceed anything you can dream on your own!
Struggling to trust God’s plan? Take one of these steps to combat doubt! Tonight I’m fully recognizing that God’s love for me is far bigger than my trust in Him. #biblereadingplan #confidenttrustjournal
Isaiah 26:1-13
You may be experiencing the most difficult transition of your life right now. Perhaps it’s the loss of a loved one. Maybe the death of a relationship. This change you’re experiencing could be the result of disease or moving or financial stress. Whatever it is, today’s passage reminds us that peace can be yours in the midst of change because God is EVERLASTING and does not change. His promise to bring peace accompanies his promise to be everlasting. Today I’m asking the Lord to help me trust him fully as my God the Rock. #confidenttrustjournal#biblereadingplan
Psalm 37:1-13
Trusting the Lord on the path of life really requires one thing: commitment. Whenever we choose not to trust God? It simply means our choice to be committed to Him is wavering. Lord, would you give us the faith to believe not only that we have a home with You in heaven someday, but that Your plan on earth for us is the best. Happy Friday! #confidenttrustjournal #biblereadingplan
Psalm 37:14-26
You see, those falls are gonna happen because we aren’t perfect. Spill, bumps in the road, bruises even, they will come. But when they come, if we are trusting the Lord fully? We won’t fall straight out on our heads. Because he’s right there. Holding our hand. Have a super Saturday knowing that God’s still on the throne! #confidenttrustjournal #biblereadingplan#praisehimanyway
Psalm 37:27-40
Times of trouble happen. You may even feel like your entire life has been a time of trouble. But God is our stronghold and can always be trusted to be there for us, no matter the season. He is worthy of our trust! #confidenttrustjournal #biblereadingplan
John 14:1-10
So you are looking at Monday morning with doubts and fears? 5 minutes of watching national tv news or scrolling through your social media feed and the world can seem a very difficult place to live in. But let not your hearts be troubled! Jesus is still saving lives and loving people. He still holds saving power and extends mercy and grace for every moment of every day. He is as alive and active today as he was when he walked the earth. Who’s believing Monday doesn’t have to steal Sunday’s joy? Let not your hearts be troubled! #confidenttrustjournal#biblereadingplan
Fill in the blank with whatever detail it is. ‘Cause we think God’s got all the big stuff, like taking us to Heaven when we die, saving us from eternal damnation, you know- what we think of as the big ones. But we have a hard time trusting God with our daughter’s reading challenges or our son’s need to stick up for himself. There’s so much more to it than that, but what if we just stop to realize if we are trusting God with eternal salvation, we can surely trust Him with everyday solutions? #preachingtomyownheart#confidenttrustjournal #biblereadingplan
John 14:11-21
Trust is believing that Jesus will act on our behalf when we call on His name. Trust is knowing that whatever comes our way, Jesus longs for our lives to bring glory to the Father and he will always make that happen on our behalf. No matter how ugly, how rough, how difficult your circumstances, you can rest assured that God will transform it into beauty! #confidenttrustjournal#biblereadingplan
John 14:22-31
Why should we trust God? As our Creator, He loves us more than we can fathom. He paid the price for our sin with His Son’s blood. He is worthy of our trust! His love for us reassures is that His plan for our lives will only be the best! #confidenttrustjournal #biblereadingplan
Psalm 46:1-11
In times of trouble, we can trust our God. He is our refuge and strength. Though the earth be moved, He is ever present and never-changing! Make it a trusting Thursday!! #confidenttrustjournal#biblereadingplan
Psalm 118:1-13
You’ve been let down before. You believed in someone and it turned out, you misplaced your trust. While it’s tempting to vow to never trust again, the psalmist reminds us to place our trust in God alone. When we do that? Our other relationships are surrendered to Him and we do not have to worry about trusting others. We recognize God is in control! Have a fab Friday! #confidenttrustjournal #biblereadingplan
Psalm 118:14-29
I’ve experienced the biggest challenges of my life in the parenting realm. Without the strength of the Lord, I just don’t know how I would have ever walked in the roles of being a at-one-time single mom, a special needs mom from the beginning, Mom to 7, a stepmom, and a mother-in-law. I honestly can’t imagine where I’d be or the many more mistakes I would have made along the journey if it weren’t for God’s strength. Lifting my hands in praise this morning! You too? #confidenttrustjournal #biblereadingplan#praisehimanyway
That concludes our Bible reading challenge review for now! I pray that the Lord is strengthening you and you are learning to trust Him with every detail!
I shared some Mother’s Day words last night and they seemed to resonate with folks. I’m including them here for anyone who may feel like Mother’s Day is a challenge.
I’m guessing you’re like me and dreamed of becoming a mother one day. While it was beautiful, It was quite an idealistic dream and didn’t include 21 years of changing diapers.
I never dreamed about a season of single motherhood, becoming a stepmother, parenting 7 children of all stages and ages at the same time, adapting to mother-in-law status, or educating at the high school, middle school, and elementary levels all at once. I didn’t ever dream of losing a precious baby before we could ever hold him or her. I never dreamed of mothering a special needs child with terminal illness.
The dream didn’t include 9 loads of laundry in one day or running the dishwasher on 2-a-days in the summer. The dream didn’t include my mama only ever meeting my oldest 2 before she went to heaven and it surely didn’t include any thoughts on the necessity of having a private chocolate stash!
The original dream I had of becoming a mother was quite ideal but it wasn’t perfect at all.
This is perfect. This life we have of loving each other through all the chaos. This life of learning to care for those who can’t care for themselves and putting other’s needs before our own. Today’s photos are reminders that although the life God has given me is not ideally mine, it is perfectly His.
Mother’s Day evokes emotion on all kinds of levels. There are moms in the waiting. Those who miss their mamas. Some who mourn the loss of having a mom who showed her love and care in a healthy manner. Mamas who work through adoption processes and post-adoption issues. There are simply so many scenarios that I can’t list them all, but God knows yours. He created you for your exact situation and has a plan for you each and every step of the way. It’s not going to be your ideal dream. You probably already figured that out. But it will be His perfect plan. And that’s better than any dream any of us could ever hope for!! Happy Mother’s Day! I hope that your day was as perfectly imperfect as ours. ??? #happymothersday #onemorestepbook
By his grace,
Rachel
