You may have guessed this yesterday! Our family is going through a busy season and with the holiday season quickly approaching, I’m expecting the busyness to expand.
Of course we want to maintain balance and prioritize appropriately, but I truly believe that there are seasons of busyness that God purposefully gives. Maybe to learn to rely on His strength. Or to follow through on the work He has called us to do.
Whatever the reason for the busy season, His Word holds true. No change, it never varies- God keeps His promises and His Word remains the same. Praise Him for that!
So tonight I went on a research mission to collect my favorite Bible verses for when life is busy. Reminders to keep my priorities in order, embrace the season God has graciously given, and continue to walk the journey He has outlined. And I wanted to share them with you.
I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man. Eccle. 3:10-13
He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. Ps. 1:3
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: Eccle. 3:1
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Ps. 46:10
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Gal. 6:9
For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living. As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good. 2 Thess. 3:11-14
Answer me quickly, O LORD! My spirit fails! Hide not your face from me, lest I be like those who go down to the pit. Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,
for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Ps. 143:7&8
The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. Prov. 21:5
And since you know that he cares, let your language show it. Don’t add words like “I swear to God” to your own words. Don’t show your impatience by concocting oaths to hurry up God. Just say yes or no. Just say what is true. That way, your language can’t be used against you. James 5:12 MSG paraphrase
And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper. I Kings 19:11&12
Enjoy your busy season, Friends! I plan to.
But let’s not get so busy that we miss the sound of his low whisper to our hearts.
Have a wonderful day,
There is nothing like Scripture to encourage and edify us. Not only do we get the instruction we need but our souls are moved by pure poetry. There is no other writer like God. His words stand alone.
AMEN!
I love how you always remind us of Scripture.
Blessings on your day, Debbie!!
