Hey there! Monday has arrived and I’m checking in with you on the Bible Reading Challenge. Thanks for keeping me accountable. At this point in the reading, I’m a couple days behind. To be honest, I don’t have a good reason for it other than last week, our family had several things go wrong and I spent more time than usual taking care of problems.

This week, I’m looking at the week ahead and thankful to see a few more open spaces of time on the daily schedules. I have my home and work lists ready for the week and I’m feeling ready to tackle the lists.

Earlier today I mentioned to my husband that I wanted to listen to the sermon from this morning once it was posted online. It was so good and stimulated so much thought that I wasn’t keeping up like I wanted to. My husband then mentioned that he wants to have our oldest son watch last week’s sermon and this week’s sermon. All that to tell you that the current sermon series by our pastor is called Good, Better Best- Don’t Settle, Keep Climbing, and we are LOVING it. I just checked and today’s sermon wasn’t up yet, but here’s the link to the series if you’d like to check it out. You can watch the video OR listen to the audio.

And now it’s your turn! How was your week and how’s the Bible reading going?

Looking forward to a new week! Give it to  God and let him make it great!

Rachel

PS: Stole a picture from my niece again this week! She called it Tennessee Sun.

  1. I have been reading the book of I Kings. This morning I read Chapter 18 and Elijah’s challenge to the prophets of Baal. I found an app to help me record my Bible reading so I can see where I have been and where I still have to read. I read in the morning before work…it is a very quiet time of the day. Thanks for your encouraging words. Work is moving so fast these days…I wonder if I can keep up.

  2. I am little behind. Like 3 days. went camping with my church this weekend. Wow was that an experience. I had my hubby and 5 of my children. A 2yr. old, 4, 5, 10 and 12. The older ones were a big help in getting everything set up. We had a big bon fire and this awesome soup my Pastor made for dinner. I loved having devotions around the fire. We got to meet a man there and share Christ with him. We went to bed late. It is hard to keep track of time when you are out in the wooded area. Half way it got real cold and my youngest two were cold and crying because they were cold. So I struggled them up against me and all was well til it started to rain. Mind you there was to be no rain. It did not damped our spirits or our time. Had a big old country breakfast. pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy, bread, and homemade syrup, OJ, and coffee. All done by the Pastor. I had a good time other than sleeping part…. now I pray that God gives me opportunity to get caught up on my reading. I have another busy week of doctor appointments again.

    1. oh wow!! You go Girl. I haven’t been camping in forever. I firmly believe God gave us the gifts of Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin simply for light and electricity, of which I am quite fond. lol But I sure did my share of camping as a kid and teen. Blessings on your week! I’m so glad you could see the good in it all!

I am still working to catch up! It seems I am entering a season of my life that takes more time than I imagined. However, if I continue to do 2 readings a day, I will soon be there where I am supposed to be. I have noticed that as I read, there are many of the readings that truly apply to one of my classes and my life right now. So very grateful to be in the reading of the word everyday! He is so faithful to work in our lives and it is amazing to watch!

Mary T – there is a “Read to Me” Bible that might fit what your preferences.
As for me, still on track and read daily. It is the first thing I do daily.

    1. Heather, thank you so much. I will Google it. My grandson is medically fragile and with extremely limited physical movement. He is academically and socially on level with his peers. He communicates via Eye Gaze using an Eye Gaze computer that speaks for him, so reading on his own even at a first grade level is challenging. I so appreciate your suggestion. God bless!

      1. Hey Mary! This new devotional is very Bible-focused and designed for beginning readers! I’ll email you about it.

  5. Rachel, been reading my Bible almost every day but not reading through by any plan. Just gonna be happy God is speaking to me in whichever passages I feel compelled to read or reread. I am trying to find a simple new Bible for Andrew now that he is in first grade. We started a homeschool version of formal instruction through our church. He is so excited and we have read the preschool Bible through. I was gonna try to go through some of your old posts, but if you know of one that really stands out, please let me know. Hope all is well!
