He Is A Liar

Yesterday negative whispers swirled in my head. Initially I did not pay attention to the accusatory statements, but persistently, they continued. They began with a single thought, then started to multiply. And I’m going to call out those thoughts for where they came from. You see, Satan is the one who feeds lies to our minds. He is a liar.
He belittled me the entire day with the very lies I called him out for last Thursday night at the One More Step Bible study.
That I’m not good enough.
Not smart enough.
Not friendly enough.
Not enough of a leader.
Not enough of an author.
Not enough of a mother.
Not enough of a wife.
And the list goes on.
And I’m sharing this with you because I know he whispers those same lies to you.
He pulls the card of “not enough” because he knows that guilt and shame will render us useless for the kingdom of God. This label of “damaged, unusable goods” is how he wants us to think of ourselves. And if he can’t get our thoughts to the “damaged” mode, then he settles for “not enough.” Either way, he makes his goal of getting us to think more about ourselves than the task God has called us to do. He steals our focus and therefore, steals our joy.
But we all know, he is a thief and a liar. God is with us. When we can’t see him in this earthly mess, we only need to ask for our eyes to be opened. Because he is there, with you. With me. And the names he knows us by are “adopted”, “chosen,” and “daughters of the King.” We have been purchased through the redemptive blood of Jesus. Not only are we good enough through Christ’s forgiveness, we are MORE than conquerors through him who loved us.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37
In order to discover the key to replacing negative internal chatter, I began to dwell on applicable thoughts of truth. Whether the issue is self-confidence, anger, worry or anxiety, truth must be our guide to replacing the negative internal chatter that so often feeds the mind.
Do not believe the lies of Satan! Exchange those lies for the truth of God’s Word.
Truth Exchange Examples
My feeling: I feel like things are out of control!
The truth: God is in control.
The proof: Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Proverbs 19:21
The point: Though I may not feel like it in the moment, God reigns over every detail of his plans.
My feeling: I am not strong enough to do this work on my own.
The truth: God is with me and gives me strength for every work he calls me to do.
The proof: And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Isaiah 40:29
The point: My strength is not enough, but I am not alone! Praise God for the strength he provides through the Holy Spirit living inside of me!
The Power of Praise
Yesterday I left the house to run an errand. Satan had been beating me up all morning and I’d forgotten my own advice. Thankfully, I turned on the van and my husband had left the worship music cd on. And when this started to play, I started crying.
Oh, I come to you wretched and blind
in need of healing in my mind
I come to you broken and poor
Oh I am empty I have nothing more
Just as I am, you will receive
You welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve
Because your promise I believe
Oh Lamb of God I come.
You want to rid your mind of the whispered lies? Satan will not hang around where Jesus is being praised, so if your desire is to stop the negative internal chatter, then praising God is the most powerful weapon in your arsenal.

Thank you for sharing. I recently was terminated under not so nice conditions. I am dealing with a lot of self criticism and doubts I am sure is from the enemy.
I know that the more active in serving the Lord we are, the more Satan attacks. But God does not abandon us, he does not give us more than we can handle and what he does for us is for our best.
I was in my car driving to get groceries. The negative thoughts going through my mind was putting me in a bad mood. I said, Satan, get out of my car and take your followers with you. Only God is allowed to be my co-pilot. Amazing how much better I felt, there was peace and joy.

Rachel, This post came at the most perfect time for me. I have been in a constant battle with my thoughts and trying so hard to get them to go away. I have been resisting satan and telling him to flee from me under the blood of Jesus. I just can’t get my thoughts and the lies of satan to go away, no matter how much I tell him to flee from me. I will not give up and I will not give in to satan. I am pressing on in the name of Jesus to help me conquer this battle of my mind.

Thank you for this post. Those are some of the very same lies the enemy tells me. You offer excellent ways to combat the lies with His truth. Recently, because of health issues and dreadful accidents for loved ones, I have been clinging to a praise song called Voice of Truth. Every time the news about those situations seemed hopeless that song became my cry to the Lord. He has prevailed. He is in control and He is very good! Thanks again for adding to my arsenal.
