While taking time to enjoy tranquil environments and serene locations is of utmost importance, finding peace even in the midst of disorder and in spite of imperfect conditions is critical. I love candles, but we can't always stop to light one, right? And I love a cozy fireplace, but it's not always a feasible solution. If you're longing for less rush and more reserve, then take in these 5 ways to experience more peace in your life.

In a world of chaos and confusion, discovering a peaceful setting feels like finding a gold mine. Shining and glistening away from busy distractions and disturbances, a few moments of quiet is a beautiful gift. While taking time to enjoy tranquil environments and serene locations is of utmost importance, finding peace even in the midst of disorder and in spite of imperfect conditions is critical. I love candles, but we can’t always stop to light one, right? And I love a cozy fireplace, but it’s not always a feasible solution. If you’re longing for less rush and more reserve, then take in these 5 ways to experience more peace in your life.

1. Remember that peace is a benefit and blessing from the Lord.

If my heart is feeling turbulent, then my first question is “How is my relationship with the Lord?” Because God’s Word teaches us that our sins have been justified through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. We have peace with God because of Jesus. Grace has ushered peace into our hearts and lives. As a Christian, my feeling of missing peace is not because peace is not present. It’s because I’m choosing not to acknowledge and enjoy the peace already available to me.

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Romans 5:1

2.  Recognize that peace is not dependent on the others’ actions; peace is dependent on my heart’s content.

I can’t control what Susie or Billy does. I can’t manipulate circumstances outside of my jurisdiction or mandate situations beyond my scope of decision-making. But I can dictate what goes in and out of the chambers of my heart and I can choose to surrender to my God who is total control.

When things seem out of control, God is always in control. — One More Step

3. Resolve to embrace an attitude of humility and meekness.

Choosing to serve rather than be served is peace-making. Determining to be humble, loving and caring is peace-promoting. It’s not always easy to embrace meekness. In a self-seeking society, meekness is not applauded and goes unnoticed. But pride is the very thing that often prevents peace.

But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace. Psalm 37:19

4. Realize that prayer is the most powerful peace-promoting action I can take.

Many of us know that the Bible says to pray for our enemies. But why should we pray for our enemies? Because of the power of prayer. God loves to hear his children pray! When our hearts are pure and his timing is perfect, then overwhelming peace beyond human comprehension is unleashed through the power of the Holy Spirit. His presence is made known and the presence of the Lord brings peace.

5. Reflect on the peace God’s Word gives.

Each month here at RachelWojo.com, I issue a monthly challenge in the form of a Bible reading plan. What would happen if you took a month to reflect on the peace God’s Word gives? Join us as we continue to soak up all that he has for us in learning to live lives of peace and contentment no matter what the world dictates. Check out the resources below!

By his grace,

Rachel
