Welcome to the Pure Joy Bible reading challenge! If you’ve never joined a Bible reading challenge here before, each day we follow the plan and read the passage. You can share what you are learning on social media or just keep it between you and God. My goal through the reading is to draw closer to Jesus, and I want that for you too!

I wonder if Pharrell Williams knew just how catchy the tune and lyrics to “Happy” would turn out to be.  After watching Despicable Me 2, my kids automatically start smiling and dancing whenever they hear “Happy.” In fact, when I started typing this post I turned it on, just to see if my hunches were right. My youngest came rushing in the room and of course, started dancing. As much as I love the happiness this song resonates, true joy is even better.

Joy has nothing to do with location. You can be anywhere at any time. Whether you are in Ohio or Africa doesn’t matter. Whether you live in a tiny hut with dirt floors or a suburban house with polished wood floors doesn’t matter. You don’t have to be in a certain place for joy to flood your soul, because joy is not location-based.

Joy has nothing to do with religion. Relationship with the heavenly Father, not religion, results in joy. Religion offers lists; relationships offer love. I’ve found that many people practice religion and fewer people promote relationship. Joy is a natural result of fostering a relationship with God.- One More Step

For this month’s Bible reading challenge, we’re going to do just that. Through reading daily Bible passages and spending time praying and listening to God, we’re going to nurture and grow our relationship with God, just as we do each month. But this month’s reading is specifically focused on true joy. The kind with which a simple feel-good song can’t compete. The kind that lingers when times are hard. The kind of joy that can only come from above.

I.can’t.wait!

Pure Joy Bible Reading Challenge

Welcome to the Pure Joy Bible reading challenge! If you’ve never joined a Bible reading challenge here before, each day we follow the plan and read the passage. You can share what you are learning on social media or just keep it between you and God. My goal through the reading is to draw closer to Jesus, and I want that for you too!

For this month, we will use the hashtags #purejoy and #biblereading. Almost every day, I post on Instagram or Facebook about what I’m learning through the passages and sometimes I post the Bible journaling pages I work on throughout the study.

On Fridays, I post a summary of what I learned through the week here on the blog and invite you to share what God is teaching you in the comments.

Hi Rachel, it’s 4:30am June 12th. I am going through probably the toughest situation in my life. My grandson, 7yrs old has been removed from my daughter and grandson’ father. After living with me for 8 months prior, I made the mistake of allowing daughter to take off with him. He was doing excellent until he left with parents. I had no rights at the time; cps got involved and I made the mistake of abiding by rules ( before reading the papers. They gave guardianship to my x-husband because of my own mistakes 10× ago and removed him from my home. I signed no papers, saw nothing in writing. So I went to a family lawyer and was awarded sole primary conservator.my daughter and father of grandson signed him over to me. 3 days later cps called my x-husband and notified him that they had filed an order because daughter did not follow protocol. My x husband told (finally) the papers he originally received had not been signed by a judge but would be immediately. My entire reason for telling u this is because I recently read from another Bible group that “Joy” is one of many ways to be healed. Our entire family needs healing. I gad already been reading scriptures on joy. I am now praying, reading, and and using my faith and belief for HEALING for all of us. Joy, is extremely pleasing to our Heavenly Father and He can put that joy -we so desire to have to work this out. I am staying in constant belief that joy of the Lord is a part of out tools to have this work out. Please pray for our family but Most of all my grandson, Madden. I will Conrtinue on my journey for full recovery through prayer, reading the word, and staying joyful heart. Thank you for “confirmation” on simply staying even in the hardest trials. God Bless.
