The Square of Life

The square of life – you know what I’m talking about? The circle of life is that wonderful repetitive cycle, referred to as a growing and learning season. A new beginning means the end to another phase. But I have to tell you, that circle, well, at least at our house, is not exactly smooth. There are some very sharp turns that take us by surprise at times. I propose that the circle of life should be renamed to (drumroll please) the “square of life.” Ok, yes, the theme song to “The Lion King” would take on a different rhythm since the word “square” only has one syllable; however, don’t you think that even Simba himself would tell you that life is NOT all delightfully smooth? That is, if he really could talk.

Just as the unexpected can occur in our physical lives in the form of accidents, illness or injuries, our spiritual lives often include a few sharp turns as well. Keeping a close relationship with our Father in Heaven is what will carry us around these bends. Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” What a promise that no matter the change we cycle through, whether circle or square, Jesus is the same. He will never leave us or forsake us. His Promises do not fail and His power remains true.

Don’t fear the next corner! Whether you are approaching it with knowledge or haven’t a clue about the future, your square of life is controlled by the Author of life. He’s got the whole world in His hands.
