It's November and marigolds are still blooming on my front porch! This is unheard of in Ohio. While the weather has been unseasonably warm up to this point, the fall will soon be ending. Back to the marigolds though, here are the few straggling ones still standing at this point. All the other foliage in the beds is toast. So as I've been thinking about how long these few marigolds have lasted, … [Read more...] about Just the few of us…
You’re telling me??
When I think about all that "hats" God has given me to wear over the last fifteen years or so, I am astonished at how varied the opportunities have been. I'm a wife, mother and piano teacher currently. I play in the church orchestra and do volunteer work for the church, the schools my children attend, and the National MPS Society. In the past, I worked as an office manager, acting paralegal, … [Read more...] about You’re telling me??
Unchosen Battles
Whoever came up with the line, "Choose your battles"? Yeah, I know what it means. You can't fight everything, and some things are not worth it. Don't try to fight everything that happens or everyone who wants to pick a fight. With children, we politely dictate that phrase, realizing that they are human, get tired, hungry, and don't always mean what they say. With undesirable people, we decide … [Read more...] about Unchosen Battles
Pardon our dust…
You've seen the sign. Restaurants hang it to indicate a remodeling; retail stores section off their construction work and post it there."Pardon our dust." I admit it; I used to be a total clean freak. Thirteen years ago, when I had one child, my house had to be virtually perfect. I didn't go to bed unless the toilet paper was hanging correctly. And now… well, some hard life … [Read more...] about Pardon our dust…
I’m thinking of a number….
Since our sweet baby Tarah has been born, our other children have fought, and I do mean fought, over who gets to sit next to her in the van. Why this means so much to them or why the victory in this battle seems to be so sweet, I don’t think I’ll ever understand. However I choose to handle the matter; someone is not happy. That person is whoever has to sit in the very back … [Read more...] about I’m thinking of a number….
On Plumbing and Prayer
An ongoing plumbing saga has emerged at the Wojnarowski house. This past Saturday we discovered a water stain in our kitchen ceiling. Not a good thing! Since we couldn't find any water on the bathroom floor above the kitchen, this was puzzling and I thought we must have burst a pipe or some other type of accidental issue had occurred. After a visit from the plumber yesterday, the theory at … [Read more...] about On Plumbing and Prayer
That was then. This is now.
Today I've been reviewing in preparation for Bible Study tomorrow. In case you missed it, we're currently in Priscilla Shirer's Jonah study and it is just so stinkin' good. My favorite part of the lesson this week has been looking at various Bible characters to whom God gave a second chance. This stems from Jonah 4:1: And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time I've been given … [Read more...] about That was then. This is now.
What’s your worth?
The gold refining process is more than amazing; but one of my favorite aspects is how the black sludge comes to the top. So the average viewer might think there was nothing of value in the refiner's pot, but the truth is that the pure gold is on the bottom, solid as can be. Only the refiner has a good picture of the worth underneath the darkness. After further reflection on "Why am I going … [Read more...] about What’s your worth?
