My First Devotional: Review & Giveaway!

And the winner, randomly selected by my trustworthy assistant, Taylor, is:

Lynn Mosher! Congrats!

“My First Devotional” is a great way to encourage your child to spend time in God’s Word daily. This juvenile fiction book is designed for ages 5 to 10. My 10 year old found it fun, but a little “babyfied” (in his words.) My 8 year old enjoyed it tremendously and my 6 year old wants to sleep with it. Seriously, he does.

Each day consists of a short Bible story, a thought-provoking question, a Bible verse, a challenge question, and a prayer.  I love that you have the option to read more verses as part of the challenge question section, when you have time.  I truly believe it is always better to spend some time in God’s Word with your children at the beginning of the day, even if it is only 2 minutes.  Sometimes, that is all we have.  But we give 100% to whatever time we have.

Would you like to win this bad boy…I mean, beautiful devotional for your children?  Then just leave a comment answering this question:

What is the best time of day you have found to have devotions with your children?

Giveaway open until Monday, 3/5/12, 11 pm EST. Winner will be randomly selected Tuesday morning and posted right here. Have fun!

Disclosure: I received this book for review from Thomas Nelson; all opinions are my own.

  1. We do his devotion at bedtime.

  2. We do after dinner devotions as a family.

  3. Our mornings can be a bit rushed, so we like to do bedtime devotionals and Bible reading. This sounds really good, and I think my 5 year old would enjoy reading it this year on her own or with us!

  4. Oh, I would love this for my granddaughter who has no daily input about God from her mother (who is divorced from our son). Though she is ten, I would love to give her this. I shall put this on my to-buy list. Thanks for posting this!

  5. We do ours at bedtime. My one son is definitely not a morning person, so the bedtime routine is the best for us.

  6. We have found the best time to do devotionals is before bedtime. Mornings are just TOO crazy with my husband leaving early and getting the boys ready for school. So, we do it as a family at night!

  7. Early in the morning

  8. We do devotions at the beginning of the day.

  9. My favorite time to read devotionals with my children is in the mornings while waiting in the car line just before they go into school.

  10. My husband has to leave early for work, before the girls wake up. We like having bible time/devotionals as a family, so we do it at bedtime, when we’re all awake and together. 🙂
