I’m thinking of a number….

Since our sweet baby Tarah has been born, our other children have fought, and I do mean fought, over who gets to sit next to her in the van. Why this means so much to them or why the victory in this battle seems to be so sweet, I don’t think I’ll ever understand. However I choose to handle the matter; someone is not happy. That person is whoever has to sit in the very back seat, alone. So is it sitting by the baby that is so grand or is it that sitting in the back seat all by your lonesome really stinks?
Recently, we’ve played a guessing game in order to make this decision fun and fair. I say, “I’m thinking of a number between 1 and 20…” And you know what comes next. Each child makes a guess and whoever is the closest gets to sit by the baby.
If you’ve never read Luke 10:38-42, then now would be a great time. Focus on verse 39 for just a moment. Mary is described as being the one who “sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.” How awesome God’s omnipresence is. I never have to guess a number and see if I’m lucky enough to sit by Him. His Word is available and I can be in His presence any time I desire! Sitting by Him IS so grand and sitting by myself? Really stinks!
Love this verse:
Psalm 16:11
You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
So pick a number, ANY number.
