discouragement was taking a nap on your couch and as it turns out, she is quite the couch potato. I’ve been there. But the good news is that you don't have to entertain disappointment. Check out this wonderful reminder of where to turn and enjoy a fabulous giveaway!! #onemorestep

When Discouragement Strikes

You had a feeling it was coming, but tried to hope for the best. In spite of your hopes and prayers though, discouragement didn’t just come knocking. No, she barreled down the front door and made herself right at home in your living room. Oh, I don’t know if it was because

  • your father was diagnosed with cancer
  • or your best friend had an affair
  • maybe it was your teenager choosing the wrong friends
  • or your baby niece was born with developmental difficulties

You tried to figure out what to do. You reasoned, borrowed logic from your best friends, and requested all manner of advice. But discouragement was taking a nap on your couch and as it turns out, she is quite the couch potato.

I’ve been there. Those moments of desperation when I tried my best to keep my head above water, but found myself sinking fast.

It’s been a journey, and even at that, I still fail at times to do what I know is best in despair– run.

Run to God’s Word as quickly as I can get myself there.

The problem is that sometimes I can’t get my legs to move. I become so overwhelmed at all that is going on in the situation that I lose the ability to control my movements and I feel paralyzed. I feel like giving up.

How to Keep Going

Discovering the strength to take one more step is where we can begin to overcome the overwhelming! We often have a general idea of what we need to do- like run to God’s Word. But what we need is  someone come alongside us and say, “I know you’re hurting. Can I help? Here’s a key verse for when you feel overwhelmed…Would these steps of prayer help you gain strength?” Someone just to guide us little by little.

For whatever reason you are tempted to quit, today you’ve discovered a resource to help you replace the feelings of despair with the truth of Scripture. You can be an overcomer when all you feel is overwhelmed.

One More Step will help you find the courage to keep going, one step at a time.

It is so comforting to know real people have real struggles but have such a gift from God to share. I love your Journaling as well. I have many prayer requests but my main one is for God to bless me with a job as after being in the work force for 25 years I have found myself in that cruel side of the world. I have been struggling for the last 9 months. I have stopped going to Church, reading my bible, helping with my charity organization, eating right and working out. I cannot put into words what I am feeling. Seeing this book has given me hope and I cannot wait to read it. Pre-ordered mine last week.

I have been discourage alot lately. My best friend just went through a divorce and it was final yesterday. We all need to rely on the Lord every hour of the day.

  18. Jennifer Buckner says:

It’s so important to always have hope. The difficult part is understanding the disappointment. The statement about having a feeling disappointment was coming, but hoping for the best really spoke to me. I would like wisdom on how to maintain that hope for myself as well as to be an encouragement to others!!

    1. Oh Jennifer- I’ve placed my hope in so many places that it shouldn’t have been that I wrote an entire chapter about it. I so get what you are saying!

  19. Holley Young says:

Rachel, your blog spoke straight to my heart. I had a hard time reading through my tears. I know that many people have many more difficulties than I do but right now, I’m hanging on to the end of a very flimsy rope.
Thank you for your words as I plan to read your blog every day. Please send an extra prayer for me…I know I’m not worthy but I guess we all aren’t worthy, in some way. That’s where God’s grace comes in…thank you again!
    Holley

Throughout my life, I have had to focus on taking JUST “one more step” way more times than I care to think about… and have also had to encourage many others to try and take that one single step as well! This book looks like it will be another way to help encourage others to keep moving forward in God’s strength and I pray it blesses all who read it…as well as the one who wrote it!

  28. Becky Nelson says:

Can’t wait to read the book, should be there when I get home.

  30. Kelly Espinoza says:

All of the situations resonated with me because they are all too real. But when a baby is born with any kind of difficulty it is truly sad. I think this book will help the reader with their own situation but the reader will be able to encourage the one going through the difficult time. 🙂

  31. Thanks for the reminder that even though life seems out of contol it is always in God’s control!!

  32. Which question at the beginning of this post sparked your attraction to enter to win One More Step?
    This following sentence hit me:
