Hermie Giveaway- Now Closed. The winner is…

As a TommyMommy, our family was given the opportunity to read three *NEW* Hermie books and review them.  Graciously, TommyNelson is providing a set of these books to give to one winner- a $22 value! How cool is that!

Tristina, my trustworthy 7  (AND 1/2) yr. old assistant, has agreed to provide her opinion for each title. So, here we go:

Hermie a common caterpillar
is a Level Two Reader designed for a reader in training with simple words and short sentences.  Tristina says:

It’s about Hermie.  He’s walking around and he’s seeing all these different bugs.  He sees pretty things on them and he wants to be like everyone else.  He sees an ant and he wants to be strong like an ant. Then Wormie and Hermie pray and go to sleep.  Hermie dreams that he is like all the other bugs but when he wakes up, he is a butterfly.

The point of the book is if you see other people and they have something cool that you really want, you should be yourself as you are. Before you want to be like everyone else, you should pray first. Then you should get a little rest.  And maybe if you wait and give God the chance, then He will do something different for you.

Thank you, God, for blessing me

This book is about Hermie wanting all these other things but God gave him special things.  It’s ok if you don’t get all the things you want because He gives you the things you need.

Thank you, God, for loving me

This book is about God always being by Hermie’s side.  If he gets lost or worried about something, he knows that even though he can’t hear God, he can still hear Him in his spirit.

So there you have it from the mouths of my babe! The later two books of the above are “Read 2 Me” books, with rhyming words and similar phrasing, our toddler Tarah listened intently through these two stories. Just right for 2’s and 3’s, but first grader Samuel enjoyed all three of the above. And fourth grader Michael enjoyed reading aloud to toddler T and his older disabled sister, Taylor.

I know you want to win this book set! So you have until Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, 4 pm Eastern to enter.  At that time, I will announce the winner on this blog post, as well as notify the winner.  You can enter up to 4 times, posting a comment for each entry.  To enter:

Thank you for your wonderful posts! I just signed up to follow your blog. I’m embarrassed to say I did not know they came out with the readers but the videos are some of my boys favorites! Thanks

    1. The readers just came out! I’m not even sure if they have them in stores yet. They were just introduced at the MOPS convention two weeks ago. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I am also following you on Twitter! 🙂

  3. I am now following your blog!

  4. Hi, Rachel! This is Sara from the Women of Faith Conference.

My daughter loves her “Really Wooly Bible Stories” book from Tommy Nelson. She is always very concerned with the ‘owie’ that the injured man in the Good Samaritan story has.

Hi Rachel – I did each of the above – followed your blog (like the others, thought I was already doing this, but was not!); posted on facebook; and followed on Twitter/tweeted the giveaway.

I have to say we only have a Hermie DVD right now, so that’s my favorite product my elimination. The books would be fun to start Hailey on though. I’ve had very good recommendations for Adventures in Odyssey though, and will get Hailey hooked on those as soon as she’s interested. Thanks for the great giveaway and always inspiring me with everyday life!

  7. We especially love: Max Lucado’s Hermie & Friends: Buzby and the Grumble Bees and Sheila Walsh’s: Goodnight Warrior -God’s Mighty Warrior Bedtime Bible Stories, Devotions, & Prayers. I thought I was already following your blog so I’ll make sure now that I’m signed up. Am now following you on Twitter and posted on FB.

    1. Thank you for sharing! Very cool. We have four of the videos and reading these books inspired the kids to pull them out after not viewing them for a while. 😉 The library has a few of the videos as well if you’ve never reserved them. 🙂

Hey Rachel – so inspired by your blog and just subscribed! The boys love to “read” as well – Brayden is starting to recognize words so it’s really exciting! We don’t have any Hermie books, but are always looking for some great additions! What a great giveaway! Thank you!

  9. Like Dawn, I’ve been reading but never subscribed. I’ll do that now. 🙂 Lindy loves reading, a lot. And Allen is starting to read, too, so I’m sure they will love these. I’ve never seen the Hermie books, but they look great! I love Tristina’s “review”.
