Directional Instinct

My directional instinct is unlike my husband’s in every way. He can find his way anywhere. He will be the first to tell you that I struggle with knowing where I am if I don’t have something tangible to guide me. Particularly when driving at night. We wrote our own wedding vows and he actually included a line about promising to guide me when I am lost. Not if, when. Two years ago, he fulfilled that promise in a new way when he bought a GPS for me. Yay! I love it. It’s nothing super fancy; just a basic TomTom that serves its purpose well.

My absolute favorite feature on the opening touch screen is the icon that says “home.” You see, no matter where I am in the US, I can touch the “home” icon and the GPS will immediately outline the directions to home.

Hallelujah that my heavenly directional instinct is so much better than my physical directional instinct! God gave us a better GPS than anything the digital world can offer: the Bible. No matter where in the world we are or no matter how lost our condition, the Word of God provides the ultimate guide to the most wonderful provision- the Cross where Jesus died for us. That Cross then points those who trust Christ to their Home in Heaven.

Colossians 1:19-20

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

When was the last time you shared your spiritual direction? Use the GPS and you’ll be guided home.
