Lesson 3 Outside the Zone Part 2

Outside the Zone of Appeal: Moses Exodus 3 and 4:1-11 In the last post about stepping out in faith, outside of our comfort zones, Moses was the central character.  Briefly we compared Moses and David; they held the common boot camp assignment: shepherding. A very interesting point we have yet to cover: David was a shepherd for years, but probably about fifteen years total.  He grew up herding … [Read more...] about Lesson 3 Outside the Zone Part 2

Lesson 3 Outside the Zone Part 1

Outside the Zone of Appearance: Moses This week in our study of stepping outside of our comfort zones and taking the leap of faith, we looked at Moses, beginning in Exodus 3 through 4:11.  The first point in the study was how somewhere between verse 3 and verse 11 of chapter 3, Moses went from "Here am I" to "Who am I?"  The description of the task God chose for Moses overwhelmed him and he felt … [Read more...] about Lesson 3 Outside the Zone Part 1

Our Family’s Success at Beating the Heat…

Every July for the last seven years, our family has graced the grounds of King's Island amusement park, courtesy of A Kid Again. We've experienced thunderstorms, lost shoes and sippy cups, and all in all, made tons of memories over the years. And this year was no different, other than the near 100 degree weather. Whewww! So how did we beat the heat? 1. Spray bottles for quick bursts of cooling, … [Read more...] about Our Family’s Success at Beating the Heat…

Those dreaded Kindergarten shots….

Today was the day. Samuel, my four yr. old, will turn five next month.  Just before school begins again.  And he's headed to kindergarten.  A bit on the young side, but on his four year checkup, the pediatrician said his size was that of an average six year old.  Needless to say, we don't want him to be bigger than his teacher by second grade... so off he goes. And he's ready.  Well, now he is.  … [Read more...] about Those dreaded Kindergarten shots….

As American as Baseball and Apple Pie…

Michael, our 8 yr. old son, is the all-American boy.  He enjoys baseball, but well, it's a learning process, right?  Now since this is his second year, he has improved greatly.  He has made some awesome catches this year, has only struck out once in all the games he has played (guessing 15 or so?), and has played the base like a trooper.  However, his coach has had him play catcher about half the … [Read more...] about As American as Baseball and Apple Pie…

Looking Forward to Lesson 3…

Outside the Zone of Appeal: Moses Read Exodus 3: 1-22 1. Who appeared to Moses out of the burning bush? 2. Did Moses recognize the call of the Lord? 3. What task did God call Moses to do? 4. What was Moses's overall feeling about this task? 5. How do I respond when the task God has called me to do has no "appeal" to  me? 6. Why do we think God can only use our "appealing" characteristics and … [Read more...] about Looking Forward to Lesson 3…

Lesson 2 Outside the Zone Part 3

Outside the Zone of Appearance: David I Samuel 16:1-13 If you are just now catching up with us, we've been discussing that having our hearts perfect toward the Lord is the way we step outside the comfort zone of appearance.   Whether it is our own appearance or the appearance of others, God wants us to see people as He sees them.  Verse seven of the above-named reference tells us: Man looks on … [Read more...] about Lesson 2 Outside the Zone Part 3

Lesson 2 Outside the Zone Part 2

Outside the Zone of Appearance: David I Samuel 16:1-13 In the first part of this lesson, we looked at verse 7 of I Samuel 16 in the context of how God wants us to step outside the comfort zone of appearance. "...Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart." A great visual was offered to assist in understanding the lesson and now to continue our study, the next four points … [Read more...] about Lesson 2 Outside the Zone Part 2
