In the fall I had the privilege of attending a conference, where I met the author of this wonderful book, “A Confident Heart,” Renee Swope. While the holidays knocked a bit of the reading wind out of me, I was determined to savor this book as I read, attempting to capture the depth and simplicity together.
As a long-time recovering perfectionist, my self-criticism has generally exceeded any other criticism in my life. After many years and life circumstances, I do feel confident in my life in Christ, but I did find myself wishing that this book had been written years ago!
The back cover of this book suggest four goals in which you will find assistance:
1. Exchange fear-filled thinking with faith-filled believing. (Who doesn’t need that?!)
2. Fail forward when life or sin sets you back. This phrase is thought-provoking and my interpretation was simply to let your failures escalate your drive to the future.
3. Embrace your G0d-given purpose, passion, and personality.
4. See beyond who you are to who you are becoming in Christ.
The format of this book is fantastic for a book club or study group, or you can join Renee in her online teaching platform RIGHT HERE. You can also take a look at the Facebook group for the book or join Renee on Twitter.
I highly recommend this book for women’s leadership teams or ministry leaders to work through together, joyfully accepting one another and experiencing the confidence each of us can have through Christ.
