The months fly around the Wojo house and I’m guessing it might be the same for you. Here we are at the end of May, staring at June and SUMMER right in the face! I can hardly believe it. So it’s time to announce the June Bible reading challenge and I have a few thoughts to share with you. Check out the Soul Secure: Winning Over Worry Bible Reading Plan & Journal Challenge!

Does transition ever make you worry? Maybe you wouldn’t call it worry initially but you experience one doubting thought that leads to another and that one leads to another. Pretty soon, you’ve worked your way from a single thought to a hill of fretting. You do your best to squelch it, but then a fear here, another fear there, and the hill of fretting piles up into a mountain of madness. Worry has wrestled you down, paralyzing your mind and affecting your body, soul, and spirit. It’s crazy how easily it happens, especially when as Christians, we know what Jesus said about worry in Matthew 6:27:

And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

For some of us, worry is triggered by something we see or hear. Others feel it gradually seep over our spirits through a progression of circumstances. Doubt, fear, and panic are companions of worry and make for bad soul company. So what do we do? How can we prevent worry from taking control? By trusting God to be in control.

When things seems out of control, God is always in control. – One More Step

Winning over worry begins with letting go of all we latch on to. When we release our grasp on what we cannot control, we’re then free to hold the hand of God. Let’s check out his promises that will lead us to a soul secure, full of assurance and free from worry!

Soul Secure: Winning Over Worry Bible Reading Challenge

Welcome to the Soul Secure Bible reading challenge! If you’ve never joined a Bible reading challenge here before, each day we follow the plan and read the passage. You can share what you are learning on social media or just keep it between you and God. My goal through the reading is to draw closer to Jesus, and I want that for you too!

For this month, we will use the hashtags #soulsecurejournal , #winningoverworry and #biblereading. Almost every day, I post on Instagram or Facebook about what I’m learning through the passages and sometimes I post the Bible journaling pages I work on throughout the study.

On Fridays, I post a summary of what I learned through the week here on the blog and invite you to share what God is teaching you in the comments.

ABOUT THE BIBLE READING PLAN AND JOURNAL

Sometimes life issues have a big 1-2 punch that can send us to the mat, but worry? She enjoys a good wrestling match. She easily steals joy and wrecks peace. She likes to linger too. When worry threatens to snatch your confidence in Christ, focusing on the truths of God’s Word is vital. In Matthew 6, Jesus explained that we accomplish nothing by worrying. How do we gain victory over this nagging temptation? The Soul Secure Bible reading plan and journal provides 31 Scripture references ideal for one month of winning over worry through targeting truth.

Last November, God began working in my heart to step the monthly Bible Reading Challenge up another notch. Personally the Lord has convinced me that soaking in his word each day is the best soul treatment I could possibly encounter. So while our community has completed Bible reading challenges for several years, I knew God was asking me to provide a stronger tool than the simple Bible reading plan I offer each month.

As a result, I created a Bible reading plan and journal combination. This resource is designed to provide a topical theme for 31 days of Bible reading passages. Topical Bible reading plans are great for folks seeking to study a certain subject in the Bible. They are also great for new Christians who aren’t sure where or how to get started reading their Bible on a regular basis. This is what one of our readers wrote about the Confident Trust: Believing God’s Plan is Best journal we worked through in April:

I am really enjoying this book, going through it with my 13yo and using it for Bible Journaling as well as a devotional. The lessons are simple, but pull me into the Word of God and help me think through how I need to apply the verses to my own life. I would recommend it.

I truly long to provide practical, spiritual resources because I know that is a work God has called me to do. So these journals are one page a day- something the average person can complete within a reasonable span of time on a personal level.

If you’re looking for an in-depth Bible study, these slim Bible study guides may not be the right fit for you. (Check out this FREE video Bible study for more depth!) I designed these particular Bible reading plans and journals to be doable on a consistent, daily basis.

I mean, what would happen if you enjoyed a beautiful buffet, but that was the only time you ate all week? You’d be hungry, right?
