Hasn't this month of studying pure joy been both exhilarating and challenging? I really love how journaling keeps me more accountable to be consistent in God's Word every day. Then to be journaling about joy and the true meaning and focus of joy was just icing on the cake. Let's take a look at the daily posts for the past week (and few days) of January's Bible reading challenge on Pure Joy: Cultivating a Happy Heart.

Hey Friends! Today is the last day of the month, so I thought I would go ahead and post the Pure Joy Bible reading challenge final summary. Hasn’t this month of studying pure joy been both exhilarating and challenging? I really love how journaling keeps me more accountable to be consistent in God’s Word every day. Then to be journaling about joy and the true meaning and focus of joy was just icing on the cake. Let’s take a look at the daily posts for the past week (and few days) of January’s Bible reading challenge on Pure Joy: Cultivating a Happy Heart.

James 1:1-6

There's no "if" in this verse. We don't get to count it all joy "if" we meet trials. No, it's "when." We all know trials. Whether you just finished the course of a trial, you are smackdab in the middle of one or you see one on the horizon. But it is possible to anticipate, obtain and embrace joy during trials because we know our Father only wants the best for us. The persevering character he is building is the greater gift. How do I know? When the Lord puts it on your heart to share a #purejoy#biblereadingplan and #journal while you're watching your sweet girl slowly slide down into the valley of death, then the truth of God's Word grips you like never before. Just the ability to keep going #onemorestep is #purejoy ! So what will we do today to live joyfully because we know that joy lives in us? Have a super Saturday!

Jude 1:20-25

For every time the thought crosses my mind today that I'm not good enough, not strong enough, just "enough," what if I replace it with "Now to him..." Because he presents me before the throne of God with pure joy, as a blameless daughter of the King! ❤️Because he is able!! Now if that doesn't give one #purejoy ! Happy Sunday! #biblereadingplan#biblereading

He presents me as perfectly eligible for heaven because he has paid the price for me. A beautiful word to rest in. G’night! #purejoy #biblereadingplan#journaling

Psalm 84:1-7

What a beautiful psalm to begin the week in the #purejoy #biblereadingplan ! The temple was a place where the people of God could draw close to his presence. The songwriters of Psalm 84 paint a picture of how they love the house of the Lord. To be close to the Lord provides beauty, strength, honor, and blessing. The result is joyful singing! What will I do today to live joyfully because I know joy lives in me?

What will I do today to live joyfully because I know joy lives in me? I will praise the Lord for his presence, for we no longer have to physically be at a tent or building to be near him. He is near to is right where we are. Oh, Jesus, i praise you for your gifts of life and this morning, I praise you for being ever so near to my heart! May we continue to sing praise on a Monday morning because we do not walk the journey alone- He is with us!! #biblereading #journaling

Psalm 97:1-12

Our Father preserves and delivers. He gives light and we can rejoice! With gray skies here in Columbus, I'm happy to say I have sunshine in my heart! Have a terrific Tuesday! #purejoy#biblereadingplan #journaling

Ecclesiastes 2:22-26

Obedience to God brings joy. The concept is so contrary to the way of the world; in fact, we are born protesting the process to some degree. But oh how much joy I’ve discovered in walking through the ideas God gives me to minister to others. From something as simple as sending an encouraging note to someone in need all the way to the longer journey of writing #onemorestep, God has blessed me with joy through obedience. What will I do today to live joyfully because I know joy lives in me? #purejoy #biblereadingplan#journaling

Joy is a gift and a result of obedience to God! What have you done today to lift your joy to the Lord? #purejoy #journaling

Isaiah 29:13-19

He chooses to revive and restore. He gives hearing to what previously fell on deaf ears. He provides insight to the circumstances they were previously blinded by. And in God's economy, the meek shall obtain fresh joy!! What beautiful verses to reflect on today! #biblereading #purejoy #biblereadingplan#journaling

I read today’s #purejoy#biblereadingplan a couple times over to soak it in this morning. The Lord is declaring over his people that while they have obeyed him with their lips, it has been a manufactured obedience. Their hearts were not matching up to their talk. But God sees this as an opportunity to do a new thing within them. He chooses to revive and restore. He gives hearing to what previously fell on deaf ears. He provides insight to the circumstances they were previously blinded by. And in God’s economy, the meek shall obtain fresh joy!! What beautiful verses to reflect on today! #biblereading #purejoy #biblereadingplan#journaling

Isaiah 35:5-10

"The ransomed of the Lord shall return...the mute will sing for joy!" I try to imagine what heaven will be like. While I know I can't really imagine it, one thing I know. My little girl who hasn't been able to say "Mommy" in 14 years is going to sing her heart out again. She will praise Jesus who loves her even more than I do. Now that's a word to cherish!!

Psalm 119:105-112

My heart is in total agreement with David in our #purejoy#biblereadingplan passage today. God's Word brings me so much joy; I can't live without soaking up his promises. It hasn't always been that way and I'm so grateful that he has taught me to love his love letter. Have a super Saturday!!

Psalm 126:1-6

getting busy on what God has called us to do always brings joy! Make it a great day! #biblereading

As I read this morning’s #purejoy #biblereadingplan passage, I couldn’t help but think about the application to Monday, the first day of the work week. For many, it’s a tough start and staying in bed sounds like a great idea. But getting busy on what God has called us to do always brings joy! Make it a great day! #biblereading

Isaiah 9:1-7

Mostly asking God to help me rejoice in what he has done and anticipate what he will do today.

I’m still mulling over today’s #purejoy #biblereadingplan passage. Mostly asking God to help me rejoice in what he has done and anticipate what he will do today. Hope your Tuesday’s terrific! #biblereading

  1. Thank you Rachel for posting this summary. I will be ordering this study guide. After going through a divorce last year, it is hard for me to find joy. Thank you God for my two little boys. I know this is nothing compared to what you are going through with your daughter. Praying for you all. You are such an encouragement.
