Praying for my husband is something I love to do. I’ve seen God work in our marriage and answer prayers directly over and over again through our fourteen years together. In the spring, my husband knew that he was going to need to make a job change due to anticipated upcoming schedule changes at work. I can’t tell you how much I prayed for him and over him. And I’m so thankful for him. God has answered our prayers and continues to do so.

Today I’m excited to introduce you to my friend, Darlene Schacht, although she hardly needs an introduction!

Darlene Schacht is the well-known Time Warp Wife whose purpose in ministry is to encourage wives to put God first in their lives. She inspires us to love our husbands and children, and to be good homemakers. In doing so, we bring glory to God. God has created each one of us with a purpose, which is first and foremost to glorify Him. When we live as Jesus lived in obedience to the Bible, we bring glory to God, bring peace to our home, and draw closer to our husbands in the process.

Darlene is an Evangelical Christian who has been married to her husband Michael for over twenty-five years. They have four children and two adorable pugs. Their lives are basically surrounded by three things: faith, family, and books.

I had one interview question for Darlene about this book:

The book starts and ends with prayer. Why is that important to you?

“Have you ever heard the saying, “All we can do now is pray?” Unfortunately that’s an attitude that’s common in our society—if everything else fails, let’s turn to God, it’s worth a try.

What we fail to remember time and again is this,

“[God] is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
We serve a God who created the moon and the countless number of stars. We are intimately connected with Him, and He is intimately connected with our lives. He knows the situation (and is at work in our lives) before we breath the first word in prayer. He loves us more than we’ll ever know and He wants the best for our marriage.

There is power in prayer because there is power in the One who loves us.”

Messy Beautiful Love is about cleaning up messes God’s way, exchanging your ideas for His, and being prepared for both the best and the worst that marriage has to offer.

  17. Messy & real & faith & grace with prayer. These things alone stir my heart. Marriage’s are messy and so in need of Christ in the center. Thank you Darlene for standing strong in Him and for letting Christ minister in and through you.

  20. I’m a new wife (6 months!) and a fairly new Christian (2 years) and from what I’ve seen in marriages around me… I know what isn’t right… When my husband and I said I do, we promised each other there would always be three of us… God, him and me. I’m learning, and I seek wisdom from couples married much longer than I… Biblical, Godly advice, support and guidance… maybe this book has some of that in there. I know God will place it in the hands of the one who needs it most 🙂 Good luck everyone and may God richly bless you all 🙂

    1. OH I agree. I have learned over the years that prayer is the FIRST lifeline, not the last resort. It’s hard to train yourself to pray first instead react and then resort to any ol’ measure. But the training is worth it. PS: I haven’t perfected this method yet by any means! 🙂
