Mirror Mirror- Stop Talking Smack (& Giveaway)

AND THE WINNER IS: Gwen!! Check your messages. :)

My girls, all 5 of them, are beautiful; each are uniquely gifted, both inside and out.

But how do I make sure they know this?

One awesome opportunity afforded to me through Tommy Nelson is the book series by Nancy Rue, “The Lily Series.”  Tristina, my 8 year old, and I reviewed  ”Here’s Lily” and loved it.  The next book in the series, “The Beauty Book,” is what we are reviewing today.  So in Tristina’s own words, here’s what the book is about:

The Beauty Book is a book that you actually get to write, not just read.  It has questions to answer about beauty, like makeup, lipstick, and all that kind of stuff.  You get to write about how your friends and yourself are beautiful.  At the end of the book, it teaches you that even if you are not beautiful on the outside, that doesn’t mean you are not beautiful because your inside is what matters.

(Of course, I did have to ask Tristina to brush her hair for this pic. :) ) I love that this book is RELEVANT, discussing hair, tattoos, skin care, and clothing. All topics that stimulate conversation perfect for tween girls.

So who wants to win one for your daughter, Sunday School class member, granddaughter or any other tween you know?

Just leave a comment answering:

How do you apply God’s definition of beauty with your daughters in today’s world?

Giveaway includes one copy of “The Beauty Book.” Click HERE for a preview. Giveaway open until Friday, 6/29, 11 pm.  Winner announced Saturday in this post.

My little sister is turning 10, I’m sure she would love this book

  2. Shelley Elaine says:

Just by reminding her often that she is “fearfully and wonderfully made”…and as she likes to add, “by God”.

  3. D'ana H says:

1 Peter 3:3-4 ” Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” I have 3 beautiful daughters – on the inside and out – ages 3, 8, 11. They are the most kind hearted, sincere, giving, loving, joyful girls that God could have ever created. I want them to understand that people will ALWAYS let them down and they will hurt them without giving it a second thought, but GOD never fails, He created us in HIS image and this world has NOTHING on that! Thank you for the opportunity to have this book – I don’t always do the best at making sure they hear this every single day!

No amount of makeup can covers a ugly heart.

  5. Gwen says:

God created her to be uniquely who she is inside and out. It’s pretty special that there is no one exactly like her. She is greatly loved.

  6. Vanessa says:

Teaching girls to see things through God’s eyes – that the inside beauty matters more than the temporary outside things that are seen.

I don’t have a daughter but I have 70+ adopted girls each Sunday night during the Awana year. Would love to check this book out and possibly use it with them sometime.
