I am loving our current series: Grace is for Giving! I certainly hope you are as well.  In this series, we first spoke of the beginning of grace; then in the second week,we discussed how grace saves and more. Comparatively, the first post focused on God giving grace to us and the second, giving grace to ourselves. Both are concepts of which we, as Christians, seem to need to be reminded.  But now we’ve come to what I believe is so critical and pivotal for Christians- giving grace to others.

Giving grace hasn’t always been an item on my Christian agenda.  In fact, most of my life as a Christian, extending grace to others was an afterthought, if that.  Many of the rules and regulations and the do’s and don’t’s kept me so preoccupied with my little checklist of whether or not I was doing right that I completely missed really reflecting God’s light. Has anyone else ever experienced this?  That focus on rules turned into judging others and holding a standard that simply couldn’t be kept. By anyone. Ever.

But oh the Biblical examples of those who were reached by grace showered on them through people willing to be used by God. You see…

Grace is transferable. God gives it to us and then we give it to others and before you know it, a circle of love has formed- by grace.
grace can reach

When nothing else can reach…

Grace reaches.

I’ve been reading Max Lucado’s book Grace and loving every minute of it.  (Highly recommend the book!!) And when I saw this particular quote about a week ago, I knew that I had to share it with you this week.

To accept grace is to accept the vow to give it.- Max Lucado

You see, when we accept the grace of God over our own lives, for salvation…for mistakes, by doing so, we agree that God’s way is the best way. And that His grace is for all- not just us. His grace is worthy to be praised. And even more than that, His grace is worthy to be shared.

For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. II Cor. 4:15

The question then becomes:

With whom are you to be sharing grace?

Who needs grace from you today? Right now. A co-worker who stabbed you in the back? A parent who made mistakes in parenting?  A spouse who made a wrong turn? A child who needs your love? A relative who is caught in the trap of selfishness?

Whomever it is, grace reaches.

One of the most beautiful grace spaces with which I’m associated is the Passion Center in Malawi, Africa.  Today I’m writing at The Better Mom (link live Monday 12/3) to give grace to this awesome facility; will you join me there to check out a very simple way you can give a little grace to a few folks I know who desperately need it? Before you go:

Do you know who needs grace in your life today?  I’d love to hear about how you purpose to give grace this season.

And don’t forget to check out our wonderful bloggers who link up this week!

Grace reaches,

  1. What beautiful teachings on the Grace of our Mighty God… Bless you and Merry Christmas 🙂

  2. I pray for Grace to find me and allow me to see it on others. Just as @DogFurandDandielions stated above: it includes forgiveness, humility, compassion, intercession. I struggle with this on my exhusband. He has done nothing to deserve Grace but I know God wants me to show him Grace. I pray that I would trust more in this and it is the Right thing to do.

  3. Grace is a constant in our lives, whether sometimes we can see it or not. I want to see it more every day girl. I think the more I give thanks, the more I receive grace. ~ Love out, Amy

    1. such a great point- giving thanks enables us to receive grace. Thanks Friend. Grace to you.

  4. Schala Lacy says:

I love the agenda of grace… Grace is Not because… it just is….

  5. I love that grace is not just a material thing – it includes forgiveness, humility, compassion, intercession – any way at all that we can “love our neighbors as ourselves.” Thanks for a thought-provoking post, and prayers that we all might take it to heart – to not just think about grace, but actually give it.

    1. Such a great point, Elizabeth! Next week, our grace post is discussing ways to see and give grace! 🙂

  6. I, too, highly recommend the awesome book, Grace, by Max Lucado. Great series. Great thoughts. Thanks for allowing us to join in, Rachel, and for your heart of grace.

  7. I, too, am loving this series. I pinned the picture. It took me soooo long to even begin to understand this amazing gift of grace. Like in superman – with great power comes great responsibility. Now that we have it, what are we going to do with it? Great post, Rachel. 🙂
